This is why I rarely read comments on a story here anymore. There is nothing to be gained from reading them. I wish people would discuss the content of the article instead of bashing apple or android. It will be nice if there is a 64gb version if the iPhone. We'll find out in Tuesday what will be release.

so lets revamp the site. We will just comment and reply with users that have something to offer.

Where is iPhone 5? Apple will surprise people during a launch day with iPhone 4S.

What if all these references to the iPhone 4S confirm Apple fans' concerns... what if the 4S *is* the 5th gen phone? What if all they do is drop in an A5 processor, add in a few features like voice recognition, bump up the camera specs, stretch the screen a tad, offer a 64 GB version and call it a year?

Bigger than the 3G to 3GS upgrade you mean. 3GS to 4 was a big leap. The screen alone was a selling point.
Really though, based on past behavior, what if that's all they do? Upgrade the iP4 hardware to 2011 tech and otherwise leave it alone? The iP4 still sells big (3 of my family members have bought them this year), so why mess with success? They don't need to convert Android users, they just need to keep reeling in featurephone users and current Apple fans. Offer the phones on Sprint and/or T-mo and they'll still grow their market share.
I'm not trying to defend (possible) lack of progress, but Apple doesn't really need to release an all-new phone. That's the market today.

Well what exactly are the gigantic leaps on android upgrades? Aren't they just a bump in specs?
Also a lot more people are willing to switch from android to iOS then the other way around.

Well, to take a case in point: when the iPhone 4 was being readied, the "hot" phone on Verizon was the Droid Incredible. 1 Ghz, 3.7" HVGA screen, 3G. Around the same time the iPhone arrives, Incredible owners can choose one of two 1.5 Ghz, dual core, 4.3-4.6" 720p, 4G phones. So it's not just "a bump in specs", the screen size, screen quality and network speed are vastly increased. Physical as well as internal changes. Yes, there were many phones in between, but taken as a whole a lot has changed.
As for people switching from Android to iOS, how many of them had the option a year ago? Or did they settle for Android when they really wanted the iPhone all along but didn't want to go to AT&T?

Apple ridiculously overprices their higher-memory versions of iPods and iPhones. It's interesting to see how expensive this 64GB "mid-tier" device will be. My money's on $259+ with contract.
