Haha I agree with u I also needed a good laugh today first of all I think AT&T should first fix there shitty ass network and expand there 3G coverage to more places maybe they can become number 1 if they do that over here in montana verizon, sprint n t-mobile all have 3G except AT&T it's funny cuz u walk in to an AT&T store over here and all of there phones are showing the edge icon because there's no AT&T 3G over here ...

ha yes i agree before that happens at&t should first expand there 3G coverage to more places so it can match verizons 3G coverage so whaT if u can surf the web n talk at the same time on at&t if u only get edge in half of the country so its pointless . i have noticed at&t only has 3G on the main citys but once u go out of the city u drop down to edge, gsm or gprs while verizon has 3G in those places i kno this because i have at&t n my friend has verizon and when we took a roadtrip by car from san diego to texas and once we stepped out of the city my blackberry bold 9700 from at&t dropped down to edge n gsm n gprs i never lost signal i was covered all the way so i was able to text n call all the way because i was covered by at&t but it was not 3G coverage it was edge n gsm and my friend with verizon had 3G ALL THE WAY. so he was able to listen to pandora radio all the way onb his bb storm without a problem because he had 3G and i couldnt because it was frustating because it would always have to rebuffer and it took forever to play because most of the time i had edge and gsm . so yea before at&t comes number one in the USA i think they should FIRST improve their 3G coverage ! because its CRAP once u get out of the city ...

Nothing wrong with AT&T's network. For me it works better than any other network out there.

Same here. AT&T actually has really good service for me. I honestly would use them over Verizon. The services are similar, but I like AT&T's phones better.

well i also gotta admit i like at&t's phone selection more than verizons but im da kind of gurl that cares more about having 3G reception in more places thats why i have verizon ....

I know! Ok first, if the iphone comes to verizon, wat will AT&T have!? With the hole droid line, it will only increase, making verizon even better, and if they actually get the Motorola Droid X10, its officially DONE!! lol

Yah not Shhhht.. That is for sure something I will not be expecting any time soon.. AT&T would have to dramatically improve their overall reception and indoor penetration to really be concider good enoug for others to go with it and ignore Verizon's way better network not just for DATA but also call reception.. I know both soon will be LTE but regardless, I seriously dont see Verizon fall out out all specially if in the near future Verizon do get the iPhone and with its current line up of Super Awesome Android phones. I would have to say to ATT,, HELL NO!!!

Remember Suckrizon fanpeople, you didn't become the largest till you bought out Alltel and that didn't put you ahead by much. Hmmm, think if AT&T bought out T-Mobile, who would be the largest then?

interesting that you bring up mergers. where would at&t be without the cingular/at&t wireless merger back 6 yrs ago? cell phone carriers merge all the time. you should get your info b4 you comment. i believe at&t would have had cingular through the at&t landline/hbc merger but not at&t wireless. see at&t wireless was a seperate company to at&t. at&t wireless merged with cingular. cingular/hbc was bought out by at&t. so as u can see mergers mean nothing but growth. everyone merges sooner or later. in 15 yrs there wil be only 2 contracted carriers and a couple of prepaid.....

ATT didn't get big until they combined with Cingular.......DUH

Not really difficult to believe - but, I believe to speculate as far ahead as 2014 is foolish. Both of these companies will eventually top 100 million - Verizon, then AT&T - T-Mbobile and Sprint better hold on and hope they have enough to survive.
17. DonkeyPunched posted on 10 Aug 2010, 00:08 0 0
I'm glad you pointed this out...I wonder if those two (T-Mobile & Sprint) will be able to survive. I like T-Mobile over here because I always have reception (Southern Cali). I wonder if they would merge...

the problem i have with this article, is it is pure speculation based on current sales. concidering the last report included the launch of the iphone4, it had a boost in sales. If the iphone really does finally go to VZW, the boost in sales will belong to them. Since VZW still trumphs ATT in almost every quarter anyways, i dont find the reason this reviewer thinks ATT will tackle VZW.. especially without the iphone. Take away the iphone sales and ATT is never anywhere near VZW, and they never had an "iphone". If the exclusivity ends, so does ATTs ability to catch up. If VZW had an exclusivity on the iphone instead of ATT, VZW would have like a 10 million lead on ATT minimum. Its the ONLY thing that keeps ATT in the #2 spot. It sure as hell aint their cheap plans, great coverage, or fast speeds... LOL. Tmo and sprint cant/wont merge until they are both on LTE so that is years away. And i really dont see a benefit of the merger because Sprint is a very high debt company. Having more customers doesnt automatically mean you make more money. If they found an idiot to buy Nextell or just shut it down, it would be more plausable after they move to LTE.

Remix, without iphone, AT&T is still number 2, easily. If Verizon gets iphone in 2007, then AT&T may have gone DROID....who knows. Verizon is number one because of the ALLtel merger as AT&T was leading right after it got the iphone and has done better than big V in most quarters recently, except the 2Q 2010. Either way, I doubt it will happen, but again, to speculate into 2014 is asanine. Currently, with LTE on the way (advanced LTE is the only true recognized 4G network and no one has that yet), Verizon should do just fine - both companies will be fine as number 1 or 2, and their CEOs rather have the nice profits than worry about being number 1 or 2....BTW, 3Q will probably belong to AT&T due to iphone 4 as it has sold over 4 million to date....

go back and look at the reports, there networkdood.. ATT is not out pacing VZW in most quarters, its normally quite the opposite. ATT has only outpaced them in like 2 or 3 quarters in the last few years. And if i remember correctly, they were iphone launch quarters. VZW has always won the lowest churn award exept for 1 whole quarter from recently. first time in eons that ATT had it. LTE + no iphone exclusivity + 10x better network = VZW will never lose to ATT without massive mergers. VZW has what.. a 2 to 3 year head start on ATT for LTE... its not a contest. And i whole heartedly beleive.. as do many apparently, that the second the iphone jumps ship, so do about 10 million customers after their contracts run out. to VZW for better service at the same price, or to Tmo and Sprint, for better service at a cheaper price.

I agree with you 99%, the part I didn't agree with was the "10 million customers will jump when their contracts are up"... I dont think 10 million people would wait that long. ETF's out the wazoo.

The fucking lemmings that did this survey must be the same fuck-mooks that have been doing market speculations on Wall Street. AT&T sucks all over the boards. Shitty reception, lack of quality data transmission, dropped calls frequently, and a bunch of dipshits working for them. The best thing I ever did was lose their service. So when all this shit happens as stated in this article, should I look outside my window as well to see if there are flying pigs circling AT&T's tower? You people should try predicting the weather too. GTFO.
