Samsung Fascinate users will finally receive their Froyo tomorrow

Besides enabling the device to show Flash video and animation, Android 2.2 also allows some apps to be stored on a microSD card. The upgrade will also allow for faster browsing on sites using JavaScript, correct upper and lower case letters on sentences typed using Swype, gives you the choice to have your apps automatically upgraded, and preloads VCAST apps and Samsung Media hub on your device among other improvements. For a look at the changelist, click on the sourcelink.
As we reported, the Android 2.2 upgrade was expected to reach Fascinate owners back on February 22nd, and even then it was considered long overdue. But if everything goes as planned tomorrow, all of that will be long forgotten by happy Samsung Fascinate owners.

Well, nice to see that perhaps the weakest of the Galaxy S phones is catching up with the rest of the world.

Ironically the video quality is a lot sharper on the Fascinate than it was on the Epic (which both being the Galaxy S line doesn't make sense to me). Wouldn't call it the weakest although the lack of Froyo did put it behind phones like the Droid X. Actually that & the Captivate were the most elegant looking Samsung smartphones to date in my opinion...

Yes I hope a is smooth. This was just way too long of a wait. My friend is like I heard this before, I'll believe it when my phone says 2.2 Froyo. Poor guy he literally aged like 5 years because of the Fascinate! I told him that this Friday the first round of cold ones are on me! Well only if he gets Froyo that is! :-) lol

As with all the other Galaxy S devices, it is getting the 2.2 update just as others are about to update to Gingerbread.

A little to late Samsung i'm riding the clouds on the Thunderbolt. Soon will have Gingerbread 2.3 by June. The fascinate was a great phone but being behind all the other phones software wise held it back. I will never buy another Samsung phone ever I don't care if its the first quadcore phone. I will wait for HTC or maybe Motorola.

the only reason to get this phone is because after the 2.2 upgrade 2.3 will follow shorty.

It will be interesting to see how the Fascinate handles Froyo...I can't wait (even though I use mine for a Wifi only device now).

Samsung is better than a Motorola. Honestly, besides physical aesthetics, all Android OS phones are he same. I see absolutely no difference between 2.1 and 2.2. So what, you can run flash player. So what? Use YouTube or what not.

I'd check my phone now. Apparently Big Red flipped the switch early. Froyo's been on my Fascinate for about 25 minutes now, and it's super-schweet. Not schweet enough to keep me from taking them up on their $150 Thunderbolt upgrade deal, but nice to play with in the meantime until I decide to switch phones.
Unfortunately, the media sync thing is still borked, but I'm beginning to think they did that deliberately because they don't want you going to places like Rhapsody and Napster to fill yourself up at their music buffet for a flat fee when they can wring every last dime out of you through VCast.

Really? Why is this update so important? Do you really use flash player that much? Do you have nothing better to do than sit on your phone and whine about what you can't do?
I have the fascinate and it works fine and dandy. The only videos I think I can't watch are the ones on facebook and thats what the computer is for.

not thr flash that makes this SUPER important .. but the few who use the phone for large apps. like my finacee who uses her phone for lab work. tracking vids and what not. moving apps to SD is very important for her.

Any news for the 10 or so of us on the Continuum?

Samsung and Motorola need to stay out of the Smart phone game. 2.2 killed the Epic, nothing but complaints from customers wanting 2.1 back. HTC is the only and original Android! I am going to get tons of thumbs down for this comment.
