Leaked screenshot indicates an August 4 launch date for the Motorola DROID BIONIC
Share:
Already, we’ve seen a Motorola device pop up over at the FCC that closely resembles the DROID BIONIC with its EV-DO and LTE 700MHz radio. However, a new leaked screenshot indicates that the highly anticipated handset is going to be making a splash on August 4, which so happens to fall in line with its reported Q3 launch time frame. Naturally, we’ve heard about its redesigns both on the software and hardware side – so it’s going to be interesting to see how the final product pans out.
Of course, without a definitive confirmation from either Motorola or Verizon, this alleged launch date can always change – but at least we can hope and cross our fingers for now.

I agree. Its better than the Bionic and it needs to hit Verizon ASAP, especially since hearing that when it lands in the USA it will be 4G.

I'm giving Verizon until the end of the year to release the Galaxy S2. If they don't I maybe going to AT&T. So if Verizon think that they can keep screwing me around like this they have another thing coming.
It's like waving a steak in front of a hungry lion and deciding not to feed him, but when he escapes and eats someone he's the blame. If I'm not fed soon I'm going to devour an IPhone!

Don't do it! AT&T is terrible. Can't wait to get away from them.

DUde the iphone blows, a great example to give you.. Lets say your iphone does begin to freeze(which it will at sometime) you have to drive to or call the nearest apple store to fix it.. however on an Android device can be fixed within 5 minutes.. so pretty much iphone is too prissy and overrated.. sry man ive had both

This is soooo retarded, I am beyond sick of this phone. Whats so special about it again???
9. Sniggly posted on 04 Jul 2011, 16:14 12 1
Oh, nothing special. I mean, it's only going to be the first phone on Verizon with a dual core processor AND a 4G radio, as well as being the first Verizon phone with a gig of ram, as well as having Gingerbread and being upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich. But you're right. Nothing special about it at all.

Wow. Thats nothing.
T-Mobile has the Sensation, which has a 1.2 gHZ dual processor instead of 1 gHZ, and also has HTC Sense 3.0 instead of that blur crap.
Sprint has all of that AND 3D, with its EVO3D.
16. nb2six posted on 04 Jul 2011, 17:48 12 2
WOW!! 3D oh man that's amazing I can watch a video for 10 minutes before I mess up my eyesite..How's T-Mobile's coverage map BTW?
I'll give it to you that Sense 3.0 is pretty nice but we have yet to see exactly what Blur is going to be like on this device. Beside that fact, if it's anything like GingerBlur it'll be pretty phenominal.
18. Sniggly posted on 04 Jul 2011, 18:16 8 1
You obviously know nothing about new Blur.
20. jroc74 posted on 04 Jul 2011, 18:49 3 0
The Sensation and EVO 3D might be nice....but I dont think compared to the Bionic, the Bionic's nothing.
Seeing as how one carrier asked for Sense to be removed so some Android phone could get updated to GB, Sense has its cons just like all the custom UI's.

Actually Since the release of the Atrix 4G i dont think we can trust Motorola Dual core phones, but then again this one is running the New Light motorola UI and Verizons Premature LTE that's actually looking promising.
39. Thump3rDX17 posted on 05 Jul 2011, 01:01 0 0
the Atrix and all other high-end Motorola Android phones will run "Motorola's Application Platform" in the future.

oh look a Sprint fan boy that fell through the cracks of the 'EVO 3D is bad" points i made. i'm tired of shutting you guys down so i'll just sum it up for ya. the specs of the dual-core HTC offerings look good in print but they're really not all they're conked out to be, there's proof all over the place and 3D is too tedious and too gimmicky to put a phone in a position to where it's better because it has "3D" and i even have some play time with the EVO 3D now to back it up. i might give the Thrill another chance with it's 3D because i've heard it's more refined than that on the EVO 3D but i'm definitely NOT impressed so far from what i've seen.

I have been looking all over but I can't find any reference to anything but 512MB of memory. I can't find any reference to the display used so hopefully it isn't Pentile, but it sounds like it isn't from the hands-on article.

Bionic will be stealing sales from the GS2. How does a device selling at a clip of 1 for every 1.5 seconds or so overseas NOT get set loose on U.S. soil before a device they had to completely scrap once????
Waiting for Sniggly to smile .....
10. Sniggly posted on 04 Jul 2011, 16:17 4 1
I'm only smiling because Motorola is seemingly living up to its word. In a time when it seems everyone is working to discredit the company, the Bionic can't come too soon.
6. eyedless (unregistered) posted on 04 Jul 2011, 15:27 3 0
I heard the Apple law suits are whats preventing Samsung from releasing in the US. Apple is trying to get a ban on the phones US sales. So they may be at fault for every one getting the GS2 before us.
17. AppleDoesn'tLikeCompetition (unregistered) posted on 04 Jul 2011, 17:53 5 0
Which makes me start believing that Apple really is afraid of Samsung and is trying to get their most popular upcoming phone banned in the country it will sell the most.

27. Thump3rDX17 posted on 04 Jul 2011, 21:07 0 0
i really doubt they will but it doesn't make any sense to me why people say it's bad, i hear from plenty of sites that the Droid X2's qHD screen is the best they've ever seen from phones with qHD screens. o:

What is amazing is that with all the leaked information, these basic details of this upcoming phone have been unattainable. I'm talking about solid and accurate information, not speculation or past specs.
15. curious (unregistered) posted on 04 Jul 2011, 17:28 2 0
Thats great with all the extra hardware specs, but I am not 100% be sold on the phone if the UI is crap. From my understanding, Its still a version of MOTOblur and when I had the Droid X it was utter garbage. The newer UI on the droid x2 doesn't seem to be all to breath taking either. Unless anyone else has better info, I feel that a perfect marrage between a perfect UI (not motoblur) and hardware (thats currently listed) is what is key to making an epic phone and not getting a half assed phone with only excellent hardware and garbage UI.
19. Sniggly posted on 04 Jul 2011, 18:18 3 0
What makes you think Motoblur I'd garbage, even on the Droid X pre Gingerbread?
21. jroc74 posted on 04 Jul 2011, 18:55 0 0
Seriously, I like the newer version of Blur on the DX1 with GB, but I didnt think it was utter garbage before,,,lol
Replace the Blur launcher and lock screen and its a smoother phone with just those 2 things.
Compare that to vanilla Android where we all replaced the stock launcher when Froyo came out for the Droid 1, and I dont see how Blur is utter garbage, even compared to vanilla Android.
IMO vanilla Android is too plain for me.
28. Thump3rDX17 posted on 04 Jul 2011, 21:12 2 0
that's what i like about Blur, it's pretty much just a Motorola Launcher with some different color action in some places.
i really like the lock screen on the Gingerbread build of the "Motorola Application Platform" (i know it probably won't catch on easily but we need to put the name "Blur" to rest to help save Motorola) that'll apparently be an extensive revision for Motorola's more powerful handsets like the Droid 3, the Photon, the Bionic and eventually the Droid X2.
24. curious (unregistered) posted on 04 Jul 2011, 19:59 0 0
I honestly think that Motorola could do better. Motorola has been in the cell phone industry for quite a while and when I had the Droid X pre-gingerbread, I felt the UI was very cumbersome to use (in comparison to Samsung/HTC/Apple/LG/Google stock) Yes, granted, some UI do have faults however with this particular phone I felt there was a lack of inspiration as to make it my own (that's why there are mods out in the open). Hardware was exceptional and served its purpose during that time. With post Gingerbread I then felt that it was more or less the same platform in the sense that it appeared and felt to be unimaginative/unintuitive. Apps/Widgets were mundane, mobility and application/widget placement was to say the least, lacking.(i.e ability to effectively size, and run said application/widget) I noted some Apps/widgets didn't even work or had a force close often. All in all, there have been many issues. When I say they have been producing garbage Its from dealing with failures, and I feel this time around if they want to create an epic phone (and get out of this rut of not having a decent phone) the combination of excellent hardware and a better UI (with the widgets/apps to match) would be the way to go. Again, just my own opinion and what I have dealt with.

pretty much aside from network speed difference. it'll be interesting to see if Sprint hangs in there with unlimited data.

I don't have a choice but to wait for the SGS 2. AT&T doesn't have ANY other high end phones coming soon and my upgrade is later this month.
I would settle for the Infuse but the non dual core doesn't sit with me. :P
I could get the HTC ChaCha though.......
Bahahahahaahha! :)

why is the Atrix not thought about? maybe you guys didn't catch the 9.5 it got here.
46. AndroidOS posted on 05 Jul 2011, 08:30 0 0
Because the Attain will be more current, so more attention to updates and mods.
I never said I didn't think about it, I just prefer newer phones around my upgrade.

I don't care what anyone says Moto has not released a good phone ever since OG droid. Moto blurs is ugly as heck and NO you can't just get rid of motoblur by installing another launcher; as motoblur is built into the system. The cpu and gpu it is using is nowhere as good as SGS2 and the phone is just ugly. Will I buy this phone HECk NO! will I consider it F NO!
43. jroc74 posted on 05 Jul 2011, 05:33 3 0
And with so many ppl that got the Droid X1, I think they've released a good phone since the Droid 1.
Yea Blur is throughout the phone, but the biggest problem with it is the launcher and lock screen.
I honestly dont see where its a problem anywhere else.
47. KingK (unregistered) posted on 05 Jul 2011, 09:29 0 2
TouchWiz is even more ugly and annoying.
Everyone here is clueless,
Cpu/gpu not as good as SGS2............LOL
The SGS2 with Tegra 2 got a ~4000 quadrant stock. Fastest ever.

I think it's about time! Motorola has held us hostage for nearly 7months with the Droid Bionic. When I first saw the Bionic and learned of its features+the dual-core processor, i was hooked! I'm not a big fan of the Laptop dock, really believe the device could have swapped-out the docking feature for something else, like more RAM or something. I really hope this device is worth the wait!
