Dummy units of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the new Galaxy Z Wide Fold have just been shown off by an insider with a meticulous track record. The units show off not just the design changes that have been leaked before, but also a new addition that shows that Samsung is taking the foldable iPhone threat very seriously.

In a new post, a renowned leaker has shown off what Samsung’s upcoming foldable flagships are going to look like.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 look pretty much identical to the outgoing Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the front cameras on the dummy units of these two phones are significantly smaller, giving credence to the reports about the selfie camera upgrades on the Fold 8.

The Galaxy Z Wide Fold, on the other hand, is a shorter and wider phone very similar to the leaked iPhone Ultra that is also coming out later this year. Notably, the Galaxy Z Wide Fold has a less advanced camera setup on the rear compared to the Fold 8.
Wireless charging magnets?

Of immense note in these photos is the presence of a ring on the rear of each of these phones. This lines up perfectly with a very recent report (translated source) that claimed that the Galaxy foldables will have magnets for perfect wireless charging alignment.
Interestingly, the iPhone Ultra is said to not feature magnetic support for wireless charging. This is especially curious considering how the iPhone has featured magnetic support for generations while Samsung’s flagships have not, including the latest Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Would you rather have magnetic support on the S-series flagships or the Galaxy foldables?
The foldable iPhone threat is big
For years, Samsung released minor annual upgrades for its foldable flagships. Then news came out about Apple finally entering the market, leading to us getting the excellent Galaxy Z Fold 7.
As more details about the iPhone Ultra leaked, Samsung began work on the Galaxy Z Wide Fold: a wide-folding phone like Apple’s foldable. The inclusion of magnetic support on the foldables, when even the mainstream flagships lack it, makes it clear that Samsung is taking the foldable iPhone threat very seriously.
With magnetic support on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the Galaxy Z Wide Fold, as well as the aforementioned camera upgrades, Samsung is bringing its A-game in July.
Now do the S-series next
This has been a very long time coming and I’m hopeful that Samsung will include this feature across the Galaxy S27 series as well.
The iPhone 17 series sold incredibly well and the iPhone Ultra poses a serious threat to Samsung’s market share. It makes perfect sense that the company is considering bold redesigns and hardware upgrades all of a sudden.
