LG Optimus G and Optimus G Pro should be updated to Android KitKat in the coming months
If you own an LG Optimus G, or a slightly newer Optimus G Pro, you’ll be happy to find out that both smartphones should receive official Android 4.4 KitKat updates pretty soon.

According to LG Brazil and its official Facebook account, the Optimus G Pro will get a taste of KitKat starting July, while the Optimus G should receive the update a month later, in August. It’s not clear if the updates are expect to arrive to all Optimus G and G Pro users around the world, but we see no reason for this not to happen.

LG Brazil also mentions that the LG G Pro Lite and LG Optimus L7 II should get Android KitKat, too, apparently before the end of the year. Other handsets will likely join them, but we do not have specific details on this right now.

In case you’re wondering, LG didn’t say anything about the newly announced Android L, but we’re pretty sure that at least some of its latest smartphones will get this brand new version of the OS. It remains to be seen if the devices mentioned above will be among them.

Update: AT&T's LG Optimus G Pro already received KitKat a few weeks ago.

And no official KitKat for my Galaxy S3, GT-19300. Cm11 runs great though. Also, with every "new" update from Samsung my phone gets even slower.

Can't say the same about the iPhone 4 that didn't get Siri.

Yes and this is my last samsung phone. Not because I didn't get kitkat. It's because after six months of proper usage they sent me an update that made my phone the laggiest phone ever.

Just a week ago I got the Android 4.4.2 update from AT&T on my LG Optimus G Pro. I guess the rollout of 4.4 has already begun here is US.

Me too, but now I'm hoping for 4.4.4 soon because my phone is now heating up and draining battery really fast. It also never enters Deep Sleep. I'm basically having many problems reported on Nexus devices. :(
I miss Jelly Bean....

EDIT: And yes, I did factory reset, clear cache, etc. In fact, I did factory reset 4 times this week!
I just had to add this because I KNOW someone will suggest it.

There is already flashable image of 4.4 for korean and international OG on XDA, but i'm not sure how about AT&T and Sprint variants.

There's an AT&T version. It was first leaked, then released as an official OTA and someone packaged it up as a flashable. It's also now a .tot,

The only issue is that it's bugged. Lots of problems.
One such bug is the "High Android OS battery drain." It was killing my battery (I have the AT&T E980 btw) and causing my phone to get really hot while in my pocket. I ended up flashing the E988 Hong Kong version of the firmware and the problems are completely gone. Only issue is that I don't have the LG Email app and the Quick Remote only has cable set top boxes from Hong Kong cable companies. :-(
It'll serve as a temp fix until the E980 firmware gets fixed though (I called LG up and they told me they are already fixing it, but they didn't get me an ETA.).
