Samsung's next foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, is just a couple of weeks away from its release date. As is the case with most smartphone launches these days, most of the details of the foldable have already surfaced online, including its color options. In fact, our poll results suggest that you guys have already decided on the color option that could be trending this year.

It's not the classic black or white

My friend and colleague Abdullah recently covered a story that reveals all the color options of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The device will be available in four shades: white, purple, green, and black. Green will be an online-exclusive color, meaning it will only be available through the Samsung website and won't be sold at carrier stores or electronic retailers.

The story contained a poll where we asked you guys to vote for the color in which you would like to get the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. At the time of writing, the poll has received 311 votes, with most of you (32.48% to be specific) voting for the purple shade. The classic black and white have received 25.08% and 16.72% of the votes, respectively.

The online-exclusive green color received the second highest number of votes (25.72%), indicating that there would be good demand for it as well. As someone who prefers uniqueness over the boring black or white finish, my vote also goes to the purple shade.

But why purple?

Just like my friend Abdullah, many users have always preferred their smartphone in the classic black color. If not this, then they go for the white shade. That's the reason why most manufacturers try to launch their phones at least in these two color options.

However, things are definitely changing now, and users seem to be showering their love for flashy colors more. The record sales numbers of the iPhone 17 Pro actually prove this. For reference, Apple recently saw the best iPhone sales, and it's reportedly because of the cosmic orange color.

Having unique colors like purple and cosmic orange definitely helps the phones to stand out in the sea of black and white slabs. Plus, the foldable is expected to cost more than $2,000, so if one is spending this much on a product, they would expect their device to look different in addition to offering some unique features.

We have seen Samsung phones in purple shades before as well

It wouldn't be the first time we would see the tech giant launch its device in a purple shade. It has been one of the color choices many times before across several Galaxy S and Galaxy Z Flip devices. For instance, one of the color options available for the Galaxy S22 was Bora Purple.

However, we haven't seen this finish in the Z Fold lineup. So, if the current leak turns out to be true, then we would finally see Samsung offering a new eye-catching color option along with all the conservative options like black and white.

Color has slowly become one of the important selling points

I think gone are the days when users used to only buy smartphones in the traditional colors. Now everyone wants their phone to look funky. I, personally, bought my Pixel 10 in the Lemongrass shade because I think it looks very unique.

Manufacturers have also realized that, and as a result, they are giving at least one hero color in each of their smartphone models. For instance, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro is said to be available in the Dark Cherry finish, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is reported to be available in a pink color, and the Pixel 11 Pro models' one of the expected shades is Dune, which could basically be a beige-pink.

While colors are slowly becoming one of the deciding factors, features are still the main priority and will probably always remain the main thing users look forward to in a new product. And the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra is believed to come with some really important upgrades over its predecessor.
