This is the Dell Venue running Froyo
We told you a few months ago that the
Dell Venue Pro is set to have a twin brother from another mother,
running Android, and that is now official, because Dell announced the contract-free
Dell Venue during its
CES press conference.
Its sibling - the Dell Venue Pro - experienced some
well-documented problems, which caused its launch to be delayed.
The two almost identical handsets share some goodies like a 4.1-inch AMOLED display (the Dell Venue also comes with Gorilla Glass), and a first generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor, but the Dell Venue comes with the pre-loaded Stage UI, and sans portrait keyboard, of course.
The Dell Venue has an
8MP camera (compared to the 5MP one found on the Pro), and comes with Android 2.2 out of the box. As of now, no price or availability information is given for this handset, which Dell will be selling unlocked, but it says details are coming soon.
