Asus ZenFone 2 scores over 50K on AnTuTu
The Asus ZenFone 2 will forever go down in the record books as the first smartphone to feature 4GB of RAM on board. And it also might be noted for the AnTuTu benchmark record it just set. With a score of 50,041, the ZenFone 2 tops the current leader which is the Meizu MX4. A score of 74,977 was recently achieved by a reference device running the NVIDIA Tegra X1 chip.

Driving the version of the Asus ZenFone 2 that was benchmarked is a quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Atom  Z3580 SoC. The 3D graphics score achieved by the PowerVR Rogue G6430 GPU was one of the major contributors to the record setting performance, which means that serious gamers are going to love the ZenFone 2.  While 2GB of RAM was used on the phone, the premium version of the handset will carry twice that amount. And a 720 x 1280 resolution was used on the screen, lower than the 1080 x 1920 resolution that will be featured on the final version.

Lower priced variants of the phone powered by a Snapdragon CPU and a MediaTek CPU are expected in the second and the third quarter respectively. The MediaTek model will offer 3G connectivity for emerging markets like India.

The Intel powered Asus ZenFone 2 is available for pre-orders, priced at $299 for the model with 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution screen, and a 13MP rear camera. If you want the unit with 4GB of RAM, it will cost you $439.

Thanks for the tip, Naveen!

"The Asus ZenFone 2 will forever go down in the record books as the first smartphone to feature 4GB of RAM"

Stats in Antutu show only 2Gb Ram.... Where did 4Gb come from?

Who cares about these benchmarks when the screen is displaying 720P. Industry standard is 1080P..

More rubbish crap from phonearena..

Uh, the screen is 1080p... And there are a couple different versions coming out, one with 2 and one with 4gb. So far, only the data on the 4gb has been released.

That GPU is basically a hair better than the G6430 in the iPhone 5s( overclocked). It's not a latest GPU and the GPU score isn't nice. The Mali T760MP8 achieves 21k GPU score at 4x the resolution and adreno 430 achieves 18k at 4x the resolution.

Yes, the chip is great. No complaints here. But by saying it's a beast in GPU is saying a lie. The CPU is the king here.

For 299$ it is a beast. That is whole point.

I get the point and even i wrote it in my comment. However, the 1080p version is for 299$ right?? This is 720p. So that one would score a little lower, around 45k ish.

It seems that Android fanatics are all about the numbers, and never about the final experience
50K on AnTuTu?
Lol

You can run Android on a core i7 chip and is still gonna lag, because Android is like an old truck..., is heavy and slow.

And why people are so excited about the Tegra gpu?
Metal Api Games can blow away all the current and future android games..., let alone the fact that this month there must have been released at least 10 good exclusive games on the App Store, gaming on Android devices has become a joke..

To be fair, gaming on mobile devices that aren't dedicated gaming consoles is a joke, Timmy.

That's very true,

But is also true that some mobile games can Challenge the Nintendo 3ds and Vita in many aspects..

I cannot argue with that, there are some excellent games on mobile platforms. But nonetheless, some of the best gaming experiences come from gaming consoles. The point here being that we shouldn't argue over which OS app store has better games, just like we shouldn't argue over handheld console games being better than mobile games. Why? Because in both arguments, neither is perfect, and both have excellent offerings.

mobile phone gaming is for causal gamers, most with attention span of few months at most, few very games are designed with high caliber such as uncharted or metal gear solid collection on ps vita or everlasting appeal of Zelda and Mario Kart on 3ds.

worst of all, touch screen gaming does not bring anything new to the mobile gaming scene, hence, why most mobile games have never had the appeal of dedicated gaming consoles.

the only selling point which attract the masses to these games is free - no barriers of entry and pay to win may cause this industry a video game crash similar to atari's led crash of 1983 ( lack of quality control and no innovation)

the only shiny light of mobile gaming, few indie games are gems ( when played with real tactile controls such as a joypad) such as fez and limbo

You do know that there is more than one Android device on the market right? and most will crush the iPhone in terms of speed/lag. It's true that some won't, but most midrange Androids will tear up the iPhone. What makes the iPhone fast? well, to be honest, it's the lack of pizzaz... it has nothing special, you hit the little block icons and run a program... it's a basic phone and you can't deny that. I am no iPhone hater, I actually think they make a great device, but since switching to Androids, I can never go back until they loosen up the controls and let us customize more. I know iPhone fans love you brag about being the best, and everyone copying them, but when you look at the big picture, everyone is copying everyone, there is only so much you can do with a rectangular piece of plastic/metal with a screen. Speaker go here, buttons go there, and thrown in a camera on the back... pretty basic. I would encourage you to try a phone with Android Kit Kat or newer on a mid range or flagship phone and compare it to the newest iPhone on the market and that will change your mind immediately.
