Asus ZenFone 2 scores over 50K on AnTuTu
The Asus ZenFone 2 will forever go down in the record books as the first smartphone to feature 4GB of RAM on board. And it also might be noted for the AnTuTu benchmark record it just set. With a score of 50,041, the ZenFone 2 tops the current leader which is the Meizu MX4. A score of 74,977 was recently achieved by a reference device running the NVIDIA Tegra X1 chip.

Driving the version of the Asus ZenFone 2 that was benchmarked is a quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Atom  Z3580 SoC. The 3D graphics score achieved by the PowerVR Rogue G6430 GPU was one of the major contributors to the record setting performance, which means that serious gamers are going to love the ZenFone 2.  While 2GB of RAM was used on the phone, the premium version of the handset will carry twice that amount. And a 720 x 1280 resolution was used on the screen, lower than the 1080 x 1920 resolution that will be featured on the final version.

Lower priced variants of the phone powered by a Snapdragon CPU and a MediaTek CPU are expected in the second and the third quarter respectively. The MediaTek model will offer 3G connectivity for emerging markets like India.

The Intel powered Asus ZenFone 2 is available for pre-orders, priced at $299 for the model with 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution screen, and a 13MP rear camera. If you want the unit with 4GB of RAM, it will cost you $439.

Thanks for the tip, Naveen!
