T-Mobile is breaking the mold once again. While unlimited plans with built-in benefits are all well and good, what if you could choose your exact benefits and promos without paying for extras you never use? That's the core premise behind T-Mix, T-Mobile's latest plans.
On average, wireless customers change their plan only once every six years. That's over half a decade of the same perks and outdated promo eligibility. T-Mobile wants subscribers to be able to shake things up without the hassle of switching to a new plan.
T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Allan Samson revealed that 84% of surveyed consumers want more control over what they pay for. Under rigid traditional plans, you might pay for features you never touch while spending roughly $219 a month on separate subscriptions. T-Mobile is consolidating those costs in one place with T-Mix.
Abandoning the cookie-cutter approach

One-size-fits-all was simple for the industry, but for customers it turned into one-size-fits-nobody. T-Mix flips that model, giving customers more say in what matters to them and plans that they can change as their lives change.

T-Mix plans are built around "Picks," a flexible currency you can use toward existing benefits like Apple TV, DashPass, Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, and SiriusXM or new partner perks such as Apple Music, ESPN Unlimited, Delta SkyMiles, Google Gemini, Paramount+, XBOX Game Pass, and YouTube Premium.
The number of picks you receive depends on your plan tier and the number of lines on that plan. You have the freedom to reallocate picks toward a different set of partner picks up to four times a year. Wireless add-ons like T-Satellite can be changed anytime.
As for the plans themselves, T-Mobile is introducing a new entry-level T-Mix Standard tier, which starts at $55/month for one line, and includes 50GB of premium data, 480p video streaming, and 3G hotspot data. You get one pick per line for a maximum of four lines.
T-Mix Loaded costs $95/month for one line and upgrades you to 250GB of hotspot data alongside better travel perks and discounted watch and tablet lines. Lines one through three get you three picks each, but the fourth line gets two.
T-Mobile claims the features bundled with Loaded average $120 in value per line, or $1,440 a year. That adds up to a whopping $4,320 in annual value for a family of three. That's before factoring in weekly T-Mobile Tuesdays giveaways, which range from tumblers to iPads.
Perk add-ons cost up to four picks, while device promos require between one and three picks per line.

How does it differ from current plans?
The T-Mix lineup comes in cheaper than the refreshed Experience 2.0 offerings. Sure, Experience Beyond 2.0, which starts at $105, lets you upgrade your device every 1.5 years, but most customers keep their phones for three years.
With T-Mix, you can assign your picks to a promo when you are ready to upgrade to a new device, and transfer them right back to XBOX Game Pass or Google AI Pro once your phone is paid off.
Not everything requires spending your picks. Many perks will come standard, including hotel and rental car perks, Club Magenta access, premium experiences, and T-Mobile Tuesdays freebies.
Some may say that T-Mobile is imitating Verizon myPlan, but Verizon requires you to pay extra for individual perks.
Catering to individual needs
For those who prefer built-in perks, T-Mobile's other plans might be a better fit. For others who prioritize flexibility, T-Mix is a better option, removing the extra overhead.
The new plans will be available starting next month.
