Samsung’s next three wearables are practically official, but this one will surely surprise you

It’s all but confirmed that Samsung will launch at least three wearables alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

With just a couple of weeks left until the premiere of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, we're seeing even more details about the July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event. Besides the foldables, Samsung is also expected to launch several wearables, and apparently those will include not only the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, but also a pair of earbuds.

Samsung’s first clip-on earbuds leak again

Samsung has mentioned a new device called the Galaxy Able in the latest version of the Galaxy Wearable app. Unearthed from the app’s code by SammyGuru, the device was previously spotted with the name Galaxy Buds Able, but the latest references to it use the shorter name.

This change suggests that Samsung has made a final decision about the new earbuds. One detail that remains unclear is the specific technology the new buds will use. The new report claims they’ll use bone conduction technology instead of traditional drivers.

However, earlier leaks showed a design that was more reminiscent of clip-on open-ear buds, similar to the Sony LinkBuds Clip and the Huawei Free Clip 2.

The new Galaxy Watch names are also confirmed

Less surprisingly, Samsung has also leaked the names of its upcoming smartwatches. These will be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9, which tipster @Alfaturk16 spotted in the Galaxy Wearable app.

Recent reports suggested that the two watches won’t stray too far away from the design of their predecessors. The Watch 9 is expected to stick to the Exynos W1000 chip, while the Watch Ultra 2 could get the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor.

One of the highlights for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to be its new display. Rumor has it that the OLED panel will support a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits.

In his in-depth review of the previous Galaxy Watch Ultra, my colleague Peter found its display more than bright enough even in broad daylight. In fact, he said the display “gets insanely bright,” with its 3,000 nits peak brightness.

A busy event for Samsung

Even without the wearables, Samsung already had a packed Galaxy Unpacked product list. A new name for the tall Z Fold 8 Ultra, the brand-new form factor of the wide Z Fold 8, and the highly anticipated Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 would’ve been enough to make this even feel busy.

Adding a completely new line of earbuds will certainly add some excitement to the event.

Let’s not get bone conduction, please

I wear noise-canceling earbuds to isolate myself and to block out the world, so I’m not the target audience for any sort of open-ear buds. Still, if I have to choose between bone-conduction and “normal” drivers, I’d always get the latter. These types of buds are more comfortable and don’t make my skin itch when I listen to music, which makes the choice very easy.
