Earlier this year, Samsung was reportedly upgrading its internal security to prevent leaks from going public. Apparently, those measures are not working as planned, as the company has once again leaked an unannounced product with a software release.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide leaks in One UI 9
Samsung may have leaked the first official images of its upcoming foldable smartphones with a recent One UI 9 build. Images of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide were found inside the software by Android Authority.

The new pictures are of a device with the codename Q8, which stands for the Z Fold 8, and H8 for the wide foldable. That’s the first time we’re seeing the back of the Z Fold 8 Wide after earlier leaks of its displays and interface.
All but confirming the rumors

The image of the wide foldable is in line with the unofficial renders we’ve seen before. In it, the Z Fold 8 Wide has an unsurprising short and wide design and a double main camera, similar to that on the Galaxy S25 Edge.

That’s also a confirmation of the rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 won’t feature any significant design changes over the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The back has the same triple camera setup, and the overall design is relatively tall and thin.
Which foldable design would you consider buying?
Still, Samsung is rumored to improve the Galaxy Z Fold 8 specs. Probably the most appealing rumored upgrades are the larger 5,000 mAh battery and the 45W fast-charging support.
Answering the competition
Samsung’s foray into the wide foldable trend comes as an answer to the rumored iPhone Ultra. Apple’s first foldable iPhone was supposed to be the first widely available device with that unorthodox shape, but the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is probably launching before it.
However, Huawei went ahead of both Apple and Samsung with its own wide foldable. Building on the clamshell Pura X, the company launched the Pura X Max in China last month. Happily for both Apple and Samsung, that device is probably never going to make it outside of China.
No secrets
As much as I enjoy getting to know Samsung’s upcoming devices, it feels unusual to see so many leaks coming directly from the company. Not that I’m complaining, but I would’ve felt better if the company were better at keeping its own secrets a little better.
