Google turns magician and makes the Pixel Tablet disappear
Google is no longer pulling the Pixel Tablet out of its hat as the device is removed from the Google Store.

The Pixel Tablet is dead. Google removed the slate, which was launched in 2023, from the online Google Store. It is almost as if the Pixel Tablet had entered the witness protection program as all references to the device have been effectively wiped at the Google Store except for some accessories. These products include:

What did we score the Pixel Tablet in our review?
Before the Pixel Tablet was 86'd from the Google Store, it was the only tablet in Google's device lineup and has been described as the device born from an affair between an Android tablet and a Nest Hub smart speaker. In our review of the Pixel Tablet, we liked the quality of the display and praised the speaker dock for being practical. Nonetheless, our overall score for the device was a 3.4 out of 10.

We panned the lack of a keyboard accessory for the Pixel Tablet, and called the audio experience "not impressive." We also mentioned that the performance of the Pixel Tablet was a "tad sluggish."
How many OS and security updates does the tablet have left?
The Pixel Tablet is still scheduled to receive updates through 2028. This means that it will be updated to Android 18 next year.
While sales of the device continued throughout late August this year, the listing for the Pixel Tablet still appeared in the Google Store during the first few days of September and the slate was listed as being out of stock. Now, the listing for the tablet itself, as we noted earlier in this article, is gone.
Pixel Tablet specs
In case you were wondering what you missed, the Pixel Tablet featured a 10.95-inch LCD display and was powered by the Tensor G2 processor. The tablet came with 8GB of memory and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. A pair of 8MP cameras, one rear-facing and the other front-facing, were onboard. Android 13 was pre-installed on the device, which is eligible to be updated to the latest Android 17 version of the operating system.
A rumored Pixel Tablet 2, expected to be released in 2025, was canceled by Google in November 2024. A Pixel Tablet 3, reportedly set to launch in 2027, also was scrapped well before Google removed the OG Pixel Tablet from the Google Store.
The Pixel Tablet will continue to receive OS and security updates until June 2028.
How can I purchase a Pixel Tablet?
Originally priced at $499 bundled with the charging speaker dock, Google subsequently decided to sell the tablet by itself for $399. Now that the Pixel Tablet has been removed from the Google Store, your best bet to obtain one is through a store that sells refurbished models like Swappa, Back Market, and eBay. Depending on condition, a used 128GB model can go for $230 to $360, while previously owned 256GB units can be found for $375 to as much as $500.
With the release of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in October 2021, Google seemed determined to challenge the Apple and Samsung ecosystems. Besides redesigning the high-end Pixel 6 line, Google brought the Pixel Watch to market in 2022. The following year, Google introduced the Pixel Tablet.
Google still has a long way to go to challenge the two big boys in the US, Apple and Samsung. As of early 2026, Apple has 60% of the US smartphone market, followed by 24% for Samsung and only 3% for Google. It seems that Google is giving up in the tablet market where it had a 3% share of active US tablet users in July. Last month, Apple and Samsung had 56% and 19% of active tablet users in the US, respectively.
