Nothing has officially confirmed some details about its plans for 2026, including the release schedule of its smartphones. There will be fewer phones this year, but the ones that premiere will see some important improvements.

Nothing won’t launch a flagship phone in 2026

Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, confirmed that there won’t be a Phone (4) in 2026 in a video on the company’s YouTube channel. “There’s no new flagship this year,” he said, emphasizing that last year’s Phone (3) will be Nothing’s flagship for 2026.

Pei explained that the company prefers to make every flagship upgrade feel more significant than churning out new devices every year. “Just because the rest of the industry does things a certain way, it doesn’t mean we will do the same.”

Focus on the Phone (4a) series

The company still plans to launch new phones, with the Phone (4a) coming soon. Pei said that the new series will be a “complete evolution” of last year’s Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. The devices will see upgraded display, camera, and overall performance, which would make them feel closer to flagship devices than their predecessors.

Rumors about the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) series have been circulating for some time now, but official details remain sparse. Pei promised that there will be premium materials and “bold new experimentation in terms of color.” He also confirmed the devices will use UFS 3.1 storage and reiterated that Nothing will raise prices due to the component shortages.

What device would you prefer to see from Nothing in 2026?

A recent leak about the Phone (4a) Pro claimed that the device will feature a 5,080 mAh battery with 50W charging, which is identical to last year’s model. The device is also rumored to have a Snapdragon 7-series chip, 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage.

If the Phone (4a) series really launches in the coming weeks, it may face stiff competition in the mid-range segment. Some of the devices that are coming out soon are Samsung’s Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57, Apple’s iPhone 17e, Google’s Pixel 10a, and the OnePlus 15T.

It’s heating up

It’s been a while since the mid-range segment felt so competitive. Nothing has the advantage of a distinct design, but it doesn’t have the heavyweight brand power of Samsung and Apple. I still expect the company to come out with a compelling offering that deserves attention.
