Certifications hint the launch isn’t far off
When a phone starts popping up in certification databases, it is usually a sign that things are moving quickly. That is exactly what is happening with the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. And yes, it seems Nothing is once again going with two models this year: a standard version and a Pro.
Nothing Phone 4a Pro (A069P) has appeared on the EU’s EPREL energy label listing.

So far, most of the concrete details apply to the Pro model. According to the listing, it should pack a 5,080mAh battery and support up to 50W charging. That is essentially identical to what we have seen on the current generation and even the Phone (2a) Plus before it. Yeah, it is not exactly exciting, but it should still translate into very solid battery life.
The battery is also rated for up to 1,400 charge cycles before dropping below 80% of its original capacity. On top of that, the Phone (4a) Pro is listed with an IP65 rating, which is fairly standard for midrange phones these days and nothing particularly special.
That is pretty much all the new certification confirms. Based on earlier rumors, the phone is still expected to run on a Snapdragon 7-series chip, paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. If that holds true, performance-wise, this will be another case of familiarity rather than a leap forward.
Pricing will matter more than upgrades this time
Looking at what we know so far, the Phone (4a) Pro is shaping up to be a fairly modest update over the Phone (3a) Pro. If that ends up being the case, the price really shouldn’t move much either.
The current Phone (3a) Pro sells for around $460, and ideally, the next model should land in the same range. There have been some whispers about a possible price increase, but without meaningful hardware upgrades, I think that would be a tough sell.
What would actually make you upgrade to the Phone (4a) Pro?
Design is still Nothing’s biggest advantage
Where Nothing continues to stand out is design. In a sea of lookalike budget and midrange phones, its devices are instantly recognizable, and that is likely where the company will focus more attention again this year.
If you are shopping for a new midrange phone, keeping an eye on the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro makes sense. A March launch seems likely. Samsung is also expected to roll out the Galaxy A57 around the same time, giving buyers more options. The A57 may look almost identical to the Galaxy A56, but it is rumored to bring some notable changes like a much slimmer design.
