Motorola is apparently working on a surprising product revival with some intriguing specs
The Moto One is a largely mysterious upcoming Android handset with a relatively familiar design and a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor under the hood.
Motorola is a master of bringing old product names back from the dead, but the next such move might catch even the brand's most loyal long-time fans completely off guard.
That's because the Motorola One family was never anywhere near as popular as the "dumb" Razr clamshells from the mid-2000s or the rugged Defy smartphone the company revived all of a sudden in 2021 only to abandon again shortly thereafter.
Is there a point to a Moto One in 2026... or 2027?
For those of you who don't remember or who never paid much attention to begin with, the Motorola One was a line of relatively affordable Android One-powered handsets with upper mid-range specs designed primarily with European and Asian markets in mind.

That's kind of what the Motorola Edge portfolio is all about nowadays, and because the Android One program is no longer a thing, you definitely have to question the utility and purpose of a new Moto One device.
Obviously, the name has an... interesting ring to it, but it's not clear how Motorola will justify its use and what could possibly make the Moto One superior to or at least fundamentally different from such products as the Edge 70 Plus, Edge 70 Pro, Edge 70 Max, or the US-exclusive Edge (2026).
The design is pretty encouraging
Yes, even though this is the first time we've ever heard of the undoubtedly impending Moto One, its general appearance is already no secret. That's thanks to the Wireless Power Consortium, which is not only confirming the handset's wireless charging support but its rather familiar design as well.

With a curved screen, relatively thin profile (even with the camera bump factored in), and a square-shaped camera module that seems to be nicely integrated into the phone's backplate, the Moto One doesn't look radically different from a number of recently released Motorolas at first glance.

Would you welcome a Motorola One revival of sorts?
That being said, this doesn't appear to look 100 percent identical to the likes of the Edge 70 Pro or Edge 70 Max either, and most importantly, those minimal screen bezels should help the Moto One stand out from many rival devices... at the right price point.
The (known) specs are even better
Motorola's first One-branded phone in at least half a decade apparently carries the model number XT2771, which wouldn't really be of interest if it wasn't for a benchmark that reveals the device packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and 12GB RAM.

Basically, the Moto One is guaranteed to be one of its manufacturer's most powerful smartphones when it comes out (especially in a 12GB RAM variant), even though it will obviously not be able to match the raw speed of Samsung's Galaxy S26 family, let alone the upcoming Galaxy S27 series.
The same goes for the decent but short of impressive 15W charging capabilities also expected from the Moto One, which make me hopeful that the device will be considerably more affordable than the first-gen Signature and even the Edge 70 Max. That's all I have to say on this topic for the time being, as I'm not ready to advance any firm pricing predictions until more details like a screen size and resolution, camera specs, and battery capacity are revealed.
