Motorola's next big Edge handset is hiding in plain sight, and its key specs are not a secret either

The undeniably gorgeous design of the unreleased Motorola Edge 70 Neo has bizarrely been made official, and its gargantuan screen size and battery capacity are almost etched in stone too.

Whether it was a mistake on Motorola's part or not, the Edge 70 Neo was casually name-dropped in a press release dedicated to the Edge 70 Plus, Moto Watch Ultra, and Snap wireless charger back in early September.

But the only thing the company confirmed about the mysterious mid-range handset at that point was a launch in India "over the coming months", which certainly felt like an unusual buzz-building move. Believe it or not, I've just made an even more bizarre discovery on the official Motorola News website, where the still-unreleased and undetailed Edge 70 Neo is featured in no less than a dozen high-quality images.

The only reason I found these undoubtedly legit press-friendly product depictions is because a bunch of the phone's specs are today revealed by a typically reliable (although unofficial) source, and even if Motorola's launch plans remain unclear, it seems safe to assume sales will kick off "very soon", at least in India.

That's an incredibly stylish Android mid-ranger

How do I know that the Motorola Edge 70 Neo is not meant to take on the likes of Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max and Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra in the high-end segment? The clue is in the name, of course, as well as the history of Neo-branded Moto devices.

Last year's Edge 60 Neo, for instance, came packing an unremarkable (by Android flagship standards) MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, shining instead with a compact 120Hz refresh rate-capable 6.36-inch P-OLED screen and a quartet of undeniably stunning Pantone colorways.

Similarly, this year's Edge 70 Neo very clearly aims to turn heads and make mouths drool with four gorgeous paint jobs dubbed Pantone Mountain View, Milky Blue, Sage, and Gray Lilac. These will apparently be complemented by unique textures and finishes (especially the Gray Lilac hue), very easily setting this bad boy apart from other top candidates for the title of best budget 5G phone in the world right now.

The (rumored) specs are also pretty interesting

  • 6.78-inch OLED screen with 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate technology;
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor;
  • UFS 3.1 internal storage;
  • 50MP primary rear-facing camera with Sony Lytia 710 sensor;
  • 2MP secondary macro sensor;
  • 32MP front-facing camera;
  • 7,000mAh battery;
  • 45W charging support;
  • Android 16;
  • Four guaranteed OS updates + five years of security patches;
  • 6 and 8GB RAM options;
  • 128 and 256GB storage variants.

By far the most intriguing thing about the Edge 70 Neo (if it pans out) is its decidedly unexpected jump from that aforementioned 6.36-inch screen size and 5,000mAh battery capacity on the Edge 60 Neo to a whopping 6.78 inches of 144Hz refresh rate-supporting OLED goodness and a fittingly massive 7,000mAh cell.

That would essentially represent the opposite move to what the US-exclusive Motorola Edge (2026) did a few months ago, when it surprisingly reduced the screen diagonal of its 2025 predecessor from 6.7 to 6.3 inches. Elsewhere, the Edge 70 Neo is today tipped to downgrade the Edge 60 Neo's 68W charging speeds (which is also unexpected) while keeping the two rear cameras and single selfie snapper seemingly unchanged.

How much will the Edge 70 Neo cost?

Unfortunately, I don't have a firm answer for you there, but a higher price point than €400 on the old continent seems just about guaranteed. That's what Motorola originally charged for the cheapest European Edge 60 Neo configuration, and given that everything is more expensive in today's mobile industry than last year, I believe €500 or so is currently the best case scenario for an entry-level Edge 70 Neo variant with only 6GB RAM on deck.

Of course, the jumbo-sized handset is not yet confirmed for a European release, but that's probably only a matter of time... unlike US availability, which is almost definitely out of the question.
