Samsung's Galaxy A18 isn't out yet, but it already feels too familiar

Samsung's Galaxy A18 might be just around the corner. A massive leak gives us nearly everything there is to know about the company's upcoming budget-friendly Galaxy A model, all the way down to what the device might look like.
The Galaxy A18 is (almost completely) revealed

The folks over at Sammyguru seem to have spotted the Galaxy A18 listed at a Danish retailer. The LTE version of the device is shown in what appear to be official press images in three color variants: Black, Silver, and Light Blue.
As you can see from the images above, the device doesn't seem to be all that different from what the Galaxy A17 looks like. But the curious part is that the Danish retailer has also reportedly shared the entire spec sheet of the model.

The ultra-affordable device might feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED panel with the same 90Hz refresh rate as the previous generation. The 4G version is also expected to feature a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, which was first linked to the Galaxy A18 back in August 2026.
The listing has additionally outlined the camera specs, revealing the device might feature three cameras on the rear, including a 50MP main, a 5MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro. There appear to be no changes to the battery size, with the model reportedly sticking to 5,000mAh and 25W wired charging.

First, we've already talked plenty about the RAMpocalypse and how it has forced various brands to stick with older hardware rather than introduce meaningful upgrades in an attempt to keep prices relatively unchanged.

Second, Counterpoint Research identified the Galaxy A17 and the Galaxy A07 as two of the best-selling Samsung phones. In fact, both devices made it onto the research firm's list of the top 10 best-selling phones in Q1 and Q2 2026.

When can we expect it to launch?
According to the Danish retailer listing, the Galaxy A18 4G might be available in stock starting October 8. If the listing is correct, the device could be announced later this month or immediately after it becomes available online.
We have to keep in mind that the official listing doesn't come straight from Samsung, so there's always the possibility that it launches earlier or later than October 8.
The next bestseller?
I understand what might have motivated Samsung to stick with mostly similar specs in an attempt to fend off a possible price hike on one of its most affordable phones.
However, I'm not entirely certain the Galaxy A18 will be able to match the success of its predecessor. With few meaningful changes, buyers may simply see no reason to choose the Galaxy A18 over the Galaxy A17.
