This Galaxy S27 series leak is easily the best one I've seen so far

Samsung's Privacy Display may be a lot more popular next year.

The Galaxy S26 proved to be a huge success for Samsung. Honestly, I thought the S27 had such big shoes to fill that it might not be able to surpass the record-breaking sales. But an exclusive piece of information from South Korean outlet The Elec (machine translated) left my jaw on the floor and indicates the S27 series might be on the fast track to set a whole new record.

Privacy Display for all!

A hot-off-the-presses leak indicates Samsung may be preparing its biggest upgrade since the Galaxy S launch. No, I'm not talking about the addition of the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro. Instead, the information suggests Samsung is planning to treat all S27 models equally in a key area by adding Privacy Display tech on the entire lineup.

According to the leak, the company might implement the Flex Magic Pixel (FMP) technology on all four devices. This kind of tech debuted with the Galaxy S26 Ultra and allows users to control the visibility of their entire screen or a portion of it. It's hardware-based and is a complete gamechanger.

If true, this will be the first time in the Galaxy S history that Samsung implements proper 'Ultra' flagship technology into Plus and 'vanilla' models just one generation after debut.

Supposedly, The Elec has learned this juicy tidbit from industry sources, but we can't know just how reliable they are at this point.

If Privacy Display technology lands on all four Galaxy S27 models, what is the ultimate outcome you expect?

Samsung will hold the edge

Needless to say, adding Privacy Display tech on its entire series will suddenly make the Galaxy S27 way more exciting than your average flagships. For starters, if Apple pulls no such trick, those who aren't firmly locked into the iOS lifestyle might suddenly decide to 'switch camps.'

As I see it, it would give Samsung an undeniable advantage over Google Pixel phones as well. And while some reports indicate that Chinese OEMs like Huawei and Xiaomi are also exploring the privacy screen tech, Samsung will still hold the edge. After all, it was the first brand to introduce it, and that's what matters.

The Elec also cites a SigmaIntell report about the upcoming popularity of smartphones with privacy display tech. According to the research company's forecast, shipments of such devices will soar from 1 million units in 2025 to 21 million in 2026. Multiple other outlets have highlighted this report, but as of the time of writing, it appears to be taken down.

Ultimate impact

Earlier leaks have hinted at Samsung's (possibly unintended) decision to turn the Galaxy S27 into a cost-cutting device. If you recall, several sources claimed Samsung is looking to partner with Chinese display manufacturer BOE for the vanilla Galaxy S27's screen.

But if The Elec's report is accurate and the Privacy Display lands on all four models, the whole story changes. It could mean Samsung is trying to bridge the gap between the vanilla and the Ultra models in its Galaxy S family.

Bottom line: if Privacy Display lands on all models next year, users will no longer be forced to go for the Ultra if they want a truly premium flagship experience.

The most exciting thing!

I won't hide my excitement here: this is easily the best leak I've learned so far about the upcoming Galaxy S27 family.

While I'm still not entirely convinced that Samsung will give the same Ultra experience to all of its models, the entire lineup suddenly feels way more appealing. Sure, Samsung might suddenly add another new feature to differentiate the Ultra from the other models. But that won't automatically mean the vanilla, the Plus, or the Pro won't be worth it, especially if they all have the stunning Privacy Display tech.

And in case you missed it:
