Samsung is gearing up to unveil two new high-end phones with a lot of cameras in tow, a beefed-up processor, more memory and storage than ever before, and plenty of other exciting upgrades, but if you don't think you'll be able to afford the Note 10 or Note 10+, there's nothing wrong with settling for a discounted member of the Galaxy S10 family, a Galaxy Note 9, or even a Galaxy S9.

Originally released almost a year and a half ago, the 5.8-inch GS9 hasn't aged particularly well, sporting a single rear-facing shooter and a fairly unimpressive 3,000mAh battery. That makes it a very tough sell at its $599.99 list price, but naturally, we've seen quite a few decent discounts offered by various carriers and major retailers lately.

The newest deal comes from Verizon, looking an awful lot like a Costco promotion from last month. The main difference is you don't need any sort of special membership to take 50 percent off the regular price of the powerful Snapdragon 845 handset. All you have to do is activate the Galaxy S9 on a new line of service at the nation's largest carrier and agree to a 24-month device payment plan.

Instead of $24.99, you'll be coughing up just $12.49 a month for the duration of your two-year "contract"... after taking bill credits into consideration. That will amount to a grand total of only 300 bucks or so, which is arguably a crazy low price to pay for a smartphone packing the aforementioned state-of-the-art SoC (from last year), alongside 4GB RAM, 64 gigs of internal storage space, and perhaps most importantly, a beautiful Super AMOLED screen with razor-thin bezels (no hole punch nonsense).

You can get the half-off S9 in your choice of Lilac Purple, Coral Blue, or Midnight Black colors, but keep in mind this online-only deal will be available for a limited time. Namely, until July 24.
