Unlocked SIM-free Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus come to the states tomorrow

Unlocked SIM-free Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus come to the states tomorrow
A report published on Monday says that starting tomorrow, Apple will start offering an unlocked, SIM-free version of the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus in the U.S. The unlocked units will be available from the online Apple Store and brick and mortar Apple Store locations. Apple will sell the phones for the same price it charges for the unlocked T-Mobile version of the phones. That means that the unlocked iPhone 6 will cost $649 (16GB), $749 (64GB) or $849 (128GB) and the iPhone 6 Plus will be priced at $749 (16GB), $849 (64GB) and $949 (128GB).

Those purchasing the unlocked version of the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will have to use their own nano SIM card for the phone to work. And with the ability to swap out SIM cards, users won't be locked into one particular carrier.

Apple is running a little late this year in releasing the unlocked version of its current iPhone model. The last few iPhone models were released in November of the year they were originally launched, including the Apple iPhone 5s, Apple iPhone 5 and Apple iPhone 4s.

Wait, so does this mean that it will have all of the LTE bands from every carrier here in the U.S?

Was just about to buy the 6 Plus from Verizon this week. This may have changed my mind.

Why not pick a VZW version from Apple directly, and call it a day, it's the same thing, it comes unlocked. It has been like that since the Iphone 5.

Really? Didn't know the carrier versions were unlocked.

They are not advertised as such, But I worked for VZW for 10 years, quit last year, and they are all unlocked. A customer came in and I called to get an unlock code from our Global Care department, and they advised all VZW LTE devices are already unlocked, not just Apple. We stuck an At&T sim in multiple devices and it worked, internet, sms, and calls, on the AT&T number. No unlocking code required.

All Verizon LTE devices are unlocked, it was part of the deal with the FCC when they won the auction bandwidth a few years ago. However...HOWEVER...not all bands are supported for every carrier on every device. From personal experience, Verizon iPhones seem to support more bands than any other devices currently in Verizon's arsenal. Had bad luck getting everything to work with a Cricket SIM with a G3 and an S5, did okay with most functions on a Moto X, but everything except LTE worked on a 5s....

You are correct, they do not get a true fully blown GSM phone with build in CDMA bands, they get a CDMA/LTE device withGlobal GSM bands.

Sure took their sweet time! It 1/6/2015! I may wait till the crowd dies down and go buy an iPhone 6 at the end of February which is my usual time for purchasing an unlocked iPhone. Or I might just wait for iPhone 6S/7? Not quite sure yet! Finally, the unlocked iPhone 6 comes tomorrow! YES! Just want to tell everyone that this is Apple's official "UNLOCKED Version" of the iPhone 6 and it has a completely different number to identify it from the rest!
