First live images of the Xperia XZ3 reveal dual-camera setup and familiar design
Sony has a history of announcing flagship smartphone upgrades every six months, with the Xperia XZ1 becoming official in August 2017 and its follow up, the Xperia XZ2, appearing just six months later at MWC 2018. Now, as expected, Sony is reportedly working on a new Xperia XZ3 but, if a new set of images is anything to go by, it will be yet another iterative upgrade.

Starting with the front of the device, it appears essentially identical to the current Xperia XZ2 flagship. This means relatively thick bezels are still present below and above the display, although it’s worth noting that this does sport the tall 18:9 aspect ratio. The panel is then coupled with a single front-facing selfie camera and an in-ear speaker that presumably doubles as a regular speaker. If this is the case, a second speaker can be expected on the bottom bezel in order to form a stereo setup. However, considering the bottom portion of the smartphone isn’t visible in the images, this is pure speculation at the moment. Hovering over to the rear, Sony looks set to finally embrace the popular dual-camera setup on its next mainstream flagship but has not chosen to use the same module design seen on the XZ2 Premium. Instead, the Japanese brand has simply placed two circular lenses on the rear which are accompanied by an LED flash and what will likely be laser and predictive phase detection autofocus. Additionally, the very central fingerprint scanner is once again featured. On a side note, the power button and volume rocker are once again positioned on the right side of the smartphone’s frame.

When it comes to the internal aspect of the device, no information was provided alongside the images, but if a recent leak is anything to go by, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor should be coupled with 6GB of RAM and the choice of 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Also, detailing the camera, a main 19-megapixel lens appears to be featured along with a secondary 12-megapixel sensor. Also, the same 13-megapixel selfie camera that was featured on the Xperia XZ2 Premium appears to have been added.

Sony is yet to make any official comments in regards to the Xperia XZ3 but, considering the brand’s annual presence at IFA in Germany, an announcement towards the very end of August is extremely likely.

Yea, best of $hit! Same stupid position of FPS. Same curved back, that you should not use on the desk/table. No headphone jack.

One hidden reason why they removed the headphone jack since XZ2 , well , was .... because their wireless headphones was sold better than their own wired headphones , during 2017 closing-entries financial reports , according to some people who has relatives working on Sony .And curved back tho ? Remind me Xperia L and Arc (just saying :P)

And? That's not even an excuse for removing a useful features which countless numbers of people still rely on.

Can you stop with those nonsense already? XZ2 does NOT support 10bit colours, the camera is one of the better one right now but not the best, ergonomics is a joke, and S9 can serve you better for multimedia purposes(overall better display, better speakers and headphone jack with decent DAC). XZ2 is a great phone from Sony but most of your claims are simply false and are very misleading.

It does have Rec2020 certification like the TVs.

Yes, but that doesn't mean XZ2 is actually capable of reproducing 10 bit colours. S9 and Mate 10 Pro is HDR 10 certified but its display is still 8 bit. LG claimed that G6 supports Dolby Vision which requires 12 bit color depth, but in reality that was another phone with a conventional 8 bit display with only wide color gamut support.

I don't speak German so I don't understand what the guy is even saying in the video, but I can tell that his video is not supporting your claim that XZ2 can display full 10 bit colour range since he's not using any measuring instrument only explaining stuffs by comparing the displays of each phone side by side(and that's not a good way to compare display quality).

XZ2 has FHD display so the effective resolution of each devices should be comparable or can be even slightly better on S9. And it is also "HDR" compatible, though just like XZ2 or any other phones, it does not support 10 bit output. But at least it can achieve higher brightness and infinite contrast ratio so it ticks more checkboxes than rivals with IPS HDR displays.

XZ2 Premium nor the XZ2 haven't even been available properly worldwide.

Again, I believe it will be Xperia XZ2s. Looks like XZ2 with camera from XZ2 Premium - same as XZ, XZs and XZ Premium.

There was never an XZ1s tho, I'm seriously lost in Sony's naming scheme. Their 6-month flagship cycle isn't helping either. There goes my "obsolete" one month old XZ2 lol jk

The leaked design of the XZ3 possibly doesn't look good for all people , but at least it's end up a true one and keeping the consistency , than the look is good , but end up looking way far from the expectations and inconsistency *cough Lenovo Z5 cough*

Put a little bit of effort into it, will you? Sony, I used to love your phones, but it's like you're not even trying anymore.

this fingerprint sensor is at a wrong spot... too low as xz2. I am wondering, they can't see it?

Why? Why relaunch your flagship with next to no updates, when your flagship was received so incredibly poorly? This is the utter epitome of mediocrity.

Love Sony to bits but they seriously need to fix their naming scheme. Not just that but they need to stop wasting time and money on iterative upgrades and instead focus their efforts on making the best flagship, mid range and budget phones possible. I really hope they move to Android One, get Google's help on imagine processing and build a bezel-less omnidesign flagship. Man that would the dream.

I just wish the fingerprint reader was not so low down on the back. You kind of need to cut off two thirds of your fingers to touch it with a normal grip.
