After clinging to the same template for years, Samsung is finally mixing things up. Apart from introducing a new Pro model that will sit below the Ultra, the company is also overhauling the design of the two top-tier models. Initial reactions to the new design haven't been positive, but a new leak suggests it's not half bad.

Leaker Ice Universe today posted images of cases meant for the Galaxy S27 series. They seem to confirm that the Galaxy S27 and S27+ are sticking with a vertical camera layout, while the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are getting a horizontal camera island with an asymmetrical camera arrangement.
Seeing the lineup grouped together gives us a clearer picture of what Samsung is aiming for.
Adding some flavor
Apart from its bigger size and one extra camera, the Galaxy S26 Ultra looks the same as the other two models. The vertical camera setup is also standard across Samsung's mid-priced and low-priced phones.
The new design might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly piques your interest.

At the end of the day, we spend most of our time staring at the screen. A slick design might catch your eye, but ultimately you buy a device for its specs, operating system, and ergonomics.
However, a new design can certainly make you fall in love with a phone. Smartphone makers don't choose a design randomly. They use it as a powerful weapon. Samsung knows what it's doing.
The horizontal camera bar was popularized by Google Pixel smartphones. The camera plateau certainly played a part in popularizing the iPhone 17 Pro. While Samsung fans may have been waiting for a distinct, catchy design, this safe route will allow the company to capitalize on something that's already doing well. Who knows, it may even draw in some iPhone users who yearn for the familiar.
