Report: Apple iPhone 8 to feature optional accessory for wireless charging

Report: Apple iPhone 8 to feature optional accessory for wireless charging
KGI Securities' super Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that a wireless charging feature for the Apple iPhone 8 is a sure thing. It might be a sure thing, but it also doesn't appear to be a free thing. A report published today out of Japan cites a reliable source, who states that Apple will be offering an optional accessory for wireless charging. According to the report, a company called Luxshare will be providing Apple with the accessory that allows users to power up the battery without wires. The same firm is believed to be supplying the coils for the wireless charger that comes out of the box with the Apple Watch.

The report also adds that Apple will no longer bundle a Lightning to 3.5mm cable with the iPhone. Apple included such a cable with the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus after it removed the 3.5mm earphone jack from its 2016 models.

According to Mac Otakara, the 2017 iPhone 8 will be just 5-inches, which could be a typo. Most expect the special 10th anniversary edition of the handset to weigh in at 5.8-inches. That is what KGI's Kuo is looking for, and he has one of the best records among analysts who cover the company. The Apple iPhone 8 (also rumored to be called iPhone X) is expected to carry an OLED panel with edge-to-edge glass, and Touch ID will be embedded under the screen. With speculation calling for a price slightly north of $1,000, the Apple iPhone 8 still could be among the most coveted phones of 2017.

Last month we told you that a company called Lite-On Semiconductor was manufacturing the internal components of the wireless charger. Also last month, the early reports claimed that the iPhone 8 will be able to wirelessly charge from as far away as 15-feet from the power source.

No. You simply had to buy the right back cover to support it. But all wireless charhing requirea you to buy something. But Apple will charge a ridiculous cost thought.

No it will be on an Apple case for about 100+ like their hideous battery case. iFans will justify it by saying Apple did it right because ___insert BS here____. All of these rumors will largely not come to fruition and after having waited one year with hope, the hardcore iFans will settle for what Apple throws at them and say that's all they were hoping for and that it's the best phone ever.

This is nothing new, you always have to buy a wireless charging pad with a phone that has wireless charging capabilities. It's not like Samsung or any other company that has a wireless charging devices actually bundles the pad with said device, you always have to buy a wireless charging accessory AKA the charging pad.

Read article. It says that if you buy the iPhone you will need to pay extra just to be able to charge it, regardless of the method you choose. Unless you already own lightning cables you will have to pay more. I have nothing against cables not being included if they have you the option of getting a free one of you needed it.

No, it's referring to the adapter to allow you to use headphones with the 3.5mm jack. It's not saying that it won't come with a lightning cable for charging.

Wow! That guy is a genius. He claims that the box will not comprise a wireless charger even if the phone is capable of wireless charging. Knowing Apple always include everything in the box, even optional, expensive and extreme quality accessories, that guy is very clever to think it will not be the case here. The credit he receives from all tech websites like phonearena is clearly not enough. We should praise that guy for his greatness. May god bless him forever!

That is a compmete an uttered lie. Apple put all USB Type C connectors on thr latest Macs and did not include any adapter to charge the iPhome 7. The iPhone 7 barely came with the audio adapter

Congratulations Apple. You've managed to join the party seven years late since my Palm Pre 2 had this in 2010. What are you going to do for an encore? Miracast? How about USB-OTG? We wait with bated breath. I have a 6S+ as a primary device so back off. They're far from this Utopian device iSheep think it is.

You will need something to plug into the wall even if it distant charging. Don't be so quick to dismiss that.

Of course you need to plug in. I don't know of any phone that charges by osmosis.
