Waiting for the delivery of a new phone, especially a model that everyone has been talking about, discussing in the mainstream media, and anticipating the arrival of, can often be a frustrating event. And the level of frustration rises with every mistake made during the process of ordering the phone.
Verizon customer is "Seething" after the carrier screwed up his Duo order
The whole incident started on October 16 when the Redditor pre-ordered the iPhone Duo from Verizon. The order details listed in the Verizon app indicated that the device shipped on October 22 and was expected to arrive at the buyer's address on October 23, the Duo's release date.
The Duo purchaser failed to make it home in time for the initial delivery setting off the subsequent issues
But the Duo buyer had to miss the first attempt to deliver the foldable because he had to go to work. He called Verizon to request a change of address, and this created a major problem. The Verizon rep typed in the wrong ZIP code, and this led to some major issues.
A Verizon employee made a critical mistake with the order
Because the ZIP code was incorrect, UPS had to return the package containing the 512GB iPhone Duo in Sky Blue back to Verizon. The carrier suggested that the customer reorder the iPhone Duo, which would mean that he probably wouldn't receive the device until December.

The Verizon customer is blaming the delay on the wireless provider, even going so far as typing, "So I’m beyond livid. I honestly might just leave Verizon after this. It was literally right there, and now it’s not. I have never been able to secure a preorder and so I was excited. "
He has filed a complaint with the FCC and while that has proven to be effective with some carrier complaints in the past, there is no guarantee that the FCC would be able to be of assistance here.
Most Reddit members suggested that the Verizon customer call other stores or wireless firms in the area to see whether there was any iPhone Duo inventory lying around. Others suggested that he subscribe to an online service that monitors the inventories of certain smartphones at specific retail stores.
Raising hell with Verizon might help
Some Redditors thought that raising hell with Verizon might help, but based on my personal experience with a similar situation, I'm not sure that chewing out Verizon will be of any help at all.
When I ordered my Pixel 6 Pro via the Verizon app, I took special care to point out my address because there was both a North and a South version of the street. So what happens? Verizon uses the wrong address. I ended up calling Verizon and I might have raised my voice a decibel or two. I finally received the Pixel 6 Pro about two weeks later.

Returning to the iPhone Duo, this whole thing could have been avoided had the recipient of the phone made sure to be home on the first date that the device was expected to arrive.
If you can't be home to sign for a delivery, ask someone you trust if they would hang out by your home or apartment to accept delivery of a package that is arriving. Don't tell him what is really in the box as there is no need to tempt fate.
