Google outs Chromecast Ultra with 4K streaming, HDR video and Ethernet port

7comments

Just as rumored, Google took to the stage today and announced its most expensive Chromecast dongle so far, the Ultra, which will bring 4K. HDR and Dolby Vision support to your dumb TV for $69. It is still round and tiny, has an Ethernet port, and Google claims that it's 1.8x faster than before.

Well, those 4K resolutions need some pushing done, so we'd be surprised if it wasn't more powerful than the last Chromecast dongle. As for the 4K content out there, it supports Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, and Google Play Movies will be rolling out a 4K section next month. Google will start the Chromecast Ultra sales next month, for $69 a piece. Any takers?
