Google Pixel vs LG G5 vs Sony Xperia XZ: specs and size comparison

6comments

With the fresh new Google Pixel, the Mountain View-based tech giant is definitely hoping to reposition itself as a mainstream device manufacturer. With the pretty intriguing state of the market at the moment mostly considering the costly Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall, we'd say that Google has a fair chance of grasping a significant portion of the Android market.

We've already compared Google;s Pixels against a bunch of notable Android rivals, but as usual, there are always a few more adversaries we should not be forgetting about. Two of these are LG's modular G5 flagship and Sony's latest Xperia XZ offering, which succeeds the early-2016 Xperia X. Being in mostly the same niche as the 5.0-inch Pixel, it's only fair to compare them against that one. Let's first see how this exceptional trio of promising devices compare in terms of size against one another.

At 5.0 inches, the regular Pixel is unsurprisingly the smallest of the bunch, with dimensions of 5.66 x 2.74 x 0.34 inches (143.84 x 69.54 x 8.58 mm) and weighing 5.04 oz (143 g). Meanwhile, the 5.3-inch LG G5 measures up at 5.88 x 2.91 x 0.29 inches (149.4 x 73.9 x 7.3 mm) and tips the scales at 5.61 oz (159 g), while the 5.2-inch Xperia XZ clocks in at 5.75 x 2.83 x 0.32 inches (146 x 72 x 8.1 mm) and weighs 5.68 oz (161 g). The latter is also the most efficient when it comes to screen-to-body ratio: with 715 of screen-to-body, the Xperia XZ is one step ahead of the G5 (70.15%) and the Pixel (68.88%).

Here's how the three phones look toe to toe.
