Apple iOS and OS X software engineer head leaves for greener pastures
A chief Apple software engineer has departed recently, leaving to lead engineering and development at iXsystems. Jordan Hubbard listed himself as Director of Software Engineering at Apple on LinkedIn, but is obviously the next in a long string of employees that are leaving to pursue other challenges now.
He had arrived in Cupertino 2001 to develop the base BSD and Unix software that build the current Mac OS X and iOS operating systems of Apple. Hubbard is actually a co-founder of the FreeBSD project, and has apparently left to pursue the open source approach:
I’m very excited to have this opportunity to help guide iXsystems through its next phase of professional and technological development. This is not just a great opportunity for me to be part of a company known for its strong support of FreeBSD and other open source software, but I’m also looking forward to helping it achieve new levels of success with the TrueNAS storage appliance and having the opportunity to create future innovative products.
