HTC Kingdom comes to Sprint customers as the HTC Hero 4G
A super Hero is coming to Sprint. Formerly known as the HTC Kingdom, the name used on a DLNA certification suggests that the 3rd largest carrier in the States will be calling the phone the HTC Hero 4G. The model will bring a 4 inch, qHD display, with a single-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM 7630 processor under the hood and 768MB of RAM aboard. Running the show will be Android 2.3.3 and a 5MP camera is on back which captures video at 720p (30 fps). There is a 1.3MP front-facing camera for self-portraits and video chat.

As we reported, the phone has already met with the FCC and with Amazon already showing cases for the device on its web site, we would expect this device to be meeting the public soon. And if the "Hero" names sounds familiar, it is because the moniker was used on one of the early Android launches. The HTC Hero had specs that might have seemed hot back in the day, but seem practically barbaric now such as having Cupcake (Android 1.5) installed, a 3.2 inch display with resolution of 320 x 480 and a 528MHz processor on board. It was the first Android model to include HTC's Sense UI.

Nice, tier 2 counter balance for the Moto Photon, HTC's own EVO 3D, and Samsungs GS2 Within (man, I hate that name). With the Epic 2 coming, Sprint has done a nice job with device selections in Android. Could I maybe ask for another, pre-Mago W7 release with a real sized screen? Stupid 3.6 on the Arrive!!

Oh, ok then its just another variant of the HTC Desire /Incredible S. Interesting. I would definitely consider picking up this phone.

My upgrade is in November, maybe I should just until next year because I'm stuck on these phones but not one has everything I'm looking for. I like the EVO 3d, but the snapdragon is not great for gaming. My wife has it and I have the EVO 4g and I play a lot of games (mainly emus) and N64 is just a bump better in fps the my 4g. But I do love everything else but again if I'm spending money on a phone, I do a lot of gaming so that is a maybe. I played with the Droid x2 and I was stunned how great the tegra 2 handled games. It played every n64 game almost perfect, but the phantom 4g only has a 4 inch screen and I love my 4.3 inch. Then I like the Samsung galaxy s2 but I don't like the fact it has a last years rez screen. I really like the higher rez screens, they just seem more fit to 4.3 inch screens. But the super amoled plus screen is nice. Damn should I wait???? God I hate when I'm stuck between phones Haha.

A two year contract is a long time. Do not settle on something you will not be happy with. You got until November. There will be PLENTY of Droid options. Hang tuff.....

I don't know about the Phantom 4g, but I do know the Photon 4G will have a 4.3 inch qHD screen

Actually, the Photon has a 4.3 with a cool two stage finish so it's even legible in sunlight. It's also got the HDMI port, 8 meg camera, and kickstand that they left of the new EVO - not to mention 16 gig installed... awesome screen, fast dual core, lots of storage, I know which one I want.

f**k THIS. im still stuck with this pos eris(basically a verizon hero) idc if they try to rename it, the eris and hero were cheap ass phones with s**tty support, sorry but i cant trust any phone with hero or eris in the name. besides this isnt even dual core or a full gig of ram. ill go with nexus prime or any 4.0 based phones

Hey guys thanks for the input, I read specs somewhere and it said 4" qHD screen instead of 4.3" (somebody screwed up) . I might pick this up, I really enjoyed the tegra 2 CPU on the Droid x2 while playing with it and it made me really think about buying it. Lol but only the Sprint version of it.

This simply ICING ON THE CAKE...Look around folks and realize what sprint has done. The EVO 3D, PHOTON 4G, GALAXY WITHIN, AND NOW THIS MAKES (4) DUALCORE MONSTERS. Oh let me throw in the fact that WE ON SPRINT get to use our devices as INTENDED which means UNLIMITED that's the only way to go. Believe me FOLKS WE HAVE PLENTY OF FUN ON SPRINT....EVO 3D RULES ANDROID FOREVER

this is not dual core richard. go change your pants and re read the article. plenty of folks may be having fun on sprint but remember they are in last place unless they get bought out too.
