HTC J Butterfly first promo video surfaces
The HTC J Butterfly just got announced in Japan, and while it’s not coming in the same form and shape to the United States, or Western markets, its most intriguing feature, the 5-inch 1080p Super LCD3 display is.

The display is succeeds what’s widely seen to be one of the best displays on the market right now, and that is the Super LCD2 720p screen on the HTC One X. The new screen has a pixel density of the impressive 440ppi. It’s not just the size and resolution, though. Color reproduction and the convex shape also make it stand out.

And now, we have the first promo video for the HTC J Butterfly, showing off what the screen looks like along with other new features in the camera department. Check it out below.

The 1080p screen changes everything! Now htc, advertise non-stop so you could sell so many of those htc j handsets!

Yeah, call an Apple Care executive and cry for it... I wonder when will these apple fans face the reality....

Apple invent display? LOL
Display manufacturers and inventors are LG, Samsung and other companies, Apple just buy from them.

Bull$hit. I bet over 90% of their apps are still not updated to take advantage of the screen they just released. Why throw in another resolution so soon? It will be more like 2 years and that's why Apple sucks.

Nokia, Samsung, LG, HTC will all beat it with a cornea display.

The most exciting thing in the market right now, I saw the picture of this screen and iPhone 5 side by side and J is a clear winner.

My f**kin god what a bash from HTC..!! After all they showed to those who were just barking around.

Lolzzz Apple's a$$ just got owned by this device.

could the american version please be called "Htc Butterfly"? without the J

25. ScottSchneider posted on 17 Oct 2012, 05:44 2 1

It should be.. SInce J stands for Japan. It should probably be called the HTC 5X or the X5...

49. akishakoi posted on 18 Oct 2012, 08:19

no they will call it HTC A Butterfly

3. rizevnarastek posted on 17 Oct 2012, 03:59 3

1080p resolution is really something...along with the 440ppi. Now i want to know the battery capacity since HTC has always been giving a l'le less than what others give.
I'm not sure if butterfly is a good name...sounds too feminine.
Imagine a hugely built man walking in a bar, shows of his HTC J.
Others around him are intrigued and asks him the name.
Replies: "Butterfly". :D

8. XPERIA-KNIGHT posted on 17 Oct 2012, 04:06 1 1

hahaaha^ still would be better if it were just "butterfly" instead of J butterfly wtf???

19. Nathan_ingx posted on 17 Oct 2012, 04:51 3 2

Dude! Just learned about the 2020mah non-removable battery...that is a mega-bumper-serious let down. I'm really bummed why HTC can't give the customers a l'le bit of extra juice in every phone. What is wrong with them??
This trend has been theirs since they began going Android. Someone must knock some serious sense into them.

22. IliyaBeshkov posted on 17 Oct 2012, 05:07 3

relax i thing that for the int and us versions they will put the same 2100 mah battery from the HTC One X+

29. Nathan_ingx posted on 17 Oct 2012, 06:09 3 1

Dude, i'm sorry but am i supposed to be enlightened that it might be 80mah more that what it is rumored to have?? What difference would 2100mah have over 2020mah??

41. IliyaBeshkov posted on 17 Oct 2012, 13:03

I respect your opinion, but the iPhone 5 has a 1440 mah battery and the iPhone 4/4s has 1430 mah, and the iPhone 5 has better battery life than the 4/4s, even than it has LTE and bigger resolusion... So i thing the HTC J will have better battery life from the One X/+, because the S4 Pro has 28nm and the Tegra has 40nm technology :)

44. Nathan_ingx posted on 17 Oct 2012, 14:55 1

This is the only point where i respect Apple: power management!
But you can't compare an iPhones with Androids...their management, utilization, consumption is very different. Again, i stand corrected, 2020mAh is too less for this device.

30. No_Nonsense posted on 17 Oct 2012, 06:09 3 1

Even 2100 mAh battery is stupid. At least 3000 mAh.

31. Nathan_ingx posted on 17 Oct 2012, 06:18 2 1

That's what i'm saying!!! It makes no sense giving us 2020 or 2100mAh battery with a screen that will eat it up in no time. A bad mismatch.

36. jan25 posted on 17 Oct 2012, 06:50 2

you do realize that even a 2100 is a huge disappointment right? it's a 1080p screen, it will drain the battery so fast, you won't have enough time to brag about that screen.

38. jaytai0106 posted on 17 Oct 2012, 09:15 1

I agreed!! If they want to tap the market, they need to go crazy. 4000 mAh battery!! I'm telling you, it would steal some market from Note just bc of its battery size. People don't want "just enough", they want "more than enough". I don't want to have to worry about my battery's level all the time. Let's face it, when we all had the old flip phone, it can last 3 days or more in one charge haha that was awesome

16. Evil.Bunny posted on 17 Oct 2012, 04:43 7

umm...the ipad is 9.7 inches and this phone is 5".
do u realise that ?

its like saying "oh your 6 month old kid can walk? my 12 year old has been doing that for ages"

40. IliyaBeshkov posted on 17 Oct 2012, 12:52 1

Do you realize that iPad 3 is a tablet and the HTC J or Butterfly (pronounce it as you wish) is a smartphone/phablet.... Even your iPhone 5 don't have 720p screen... So please shut up :)
PS: Thats for wendy... I wanted to reply to her comment, but it seems that its on @Evil.Bunny.. :D

17. Nathan_ingx posted on 17 Oct 2012, 04:46 3

I pity you Wenda...your love for the prefix 'i' has made you recieve lots of thumbs down...no matter how hard you try. And still, you come back for more... This time, m'a give you a down cause you deserve it...long over due.

awesome display, but the thing is that i cant even distinguish between pixels on my s3, and there is no mobile app which can exploit this 1080p displays on a 5inch screen...so wats the use?

i want a comparison with asus padfone 2! :)

34. LumiaLover posted on 17 Oct 2012, 06:43

Wow...this is just stunning. I can upgrade on December 21st, and it would be the best Xmas present ever if this was available in the UK by then. I was considering the One x+ but I would wait for this if I knew it was coming.

39. a22matic posted on 17 Oct 2012, 12:17

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the charging port appears to have been moved back to the bottom of the phone. As we all know, the charging port on the One X/EVO LTE series was moved to the left side of the phone.

42. vandroid posted on 17 Oct 2012, 13:06

This looks good i can only imagine what the US version will look like ^_^

45. roldefol posted on 17 Oct 2012, 15:25 1

Haven't we already seen leaks of the Incredible X (6435LVW) or whatever they choose to call it? It looked almost identical. I don't know if we'll see this as a Nexus, but I believe it will come to Verizon. What better way to succeed the 720p, 342 ppi Rezound than with a 1080p, 440 ppi X5. Also explains why VZW skipped the One X.

Unfortunately like the Rezound, it looks to have an undersized battery.

47. thachlel posted on 17 Oct 2012, 20:32

I used to love HTC but they turn me off, the 1x has no expandable sdcard no swappable battery f**k HTC I'll stay with Samsung. BTW, I have 1x n s3 LOVE s3 in every aspects, from listening to music to local video play back and fast internet browsing. HTC's Beat is piece of s**t! The s3 with Poweramp blows away the Beat that HTC has tried to fool people into.

A MUCH LARGER embedded battery, and a change in the name might just make me want to import this sexy phone!!! Why, and who came up with the name "J Buttefly" for this phone??? Why "Butterfly"??? Otherwise, the 5" 1080p display is just desirable!!!
