Over the last couple of months, a fair number of reports have come out about how the upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra is facing severe difficulties during the production phase and will be delayed. However, a new report from a very reliable source alleges that Apple has no such plans for a postponed launch.
No iPhone Ultra delay

According to a new report (translated source), the iPhone Ultra — which is allegedly the name of the foldable iPhone — is not being delayed. Though there are some challenges with the phone’s hinge, such as creaking and rattling foldable iPhone prototypes, production is still proceeding as planned.
The source, renowned for their ties to the supply chain and early leaks of designs and working units, claims that there has been no word of any delays. Discussion under the post alludes to the rumor having been spread by a domestic manufacturer, perhaps in an effort to drum up sales of their own foldable smartphones.
Would a significant delay affect your decision to purchase the foldable iPhone Ultra?
A September release for the foldable iPhone
This, of course, means that Apple’s highly anticipated foldable flagship should hit shelves in September as expected. According to the company’s new release schedule, the iPhone Ultra will launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The base iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 are said to be coming out alongside the iPhone 18e some time around March of next year. Apple knocked it out of the park with the base iPhone 17 — with it helping Apple’s sales for the iPhone 17 lineup exceed all expectations — and now the company wants its base models to give competition to phones that release earlier each year.

Previous reports about the iPhone Ultra put the delayed release date in December of this year or even beyond, spilling over into 2027. If the phone really is coming out in September, then Apple will have been able to stick to at least one major tenet of its three-year plan for the iPhone.
That is excellent news for Apple as the company’s user base is very much looking forward to the release of an iOS foldable.

Just a few more months
This time last year, a foldable iPhone was still a mythical device. | Image by Fpt.
Apple users have waited to get their hands on a foldable smartphone for many, many years. Now, it’s finally happening, a foldable iPhone is just a few months away. Even if some minor problems remain, Apple is in too deep now to just postpone the iPhone Ultra, in my opinion.
There have already been foldable iPhone features spotted in iOS 27, all but confirming its release this year. Apps are getting support for different aspect ratios and other code snippets are practically screaming about how you will finally be able to get what Android users have had for a very long time.
The only thing that hasn’t been fully confirmed is how much the phone will cost, though basically every report has said that you can expect to pay upward of at least $2,000.
Let’s get this show on the road!
Personally, though I’m still not sold on the form factor of Apple’s foldable, I’m still very excited for it to come out. If nothing else, then at least for the fact that any time Apple enters a specific niche, the industry is forever changed in one way or another.
And now that Samsung has modified the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to look the same, who knows, this layout might just catch on and become the standard. Not to worry if you’re not a fan either, by the way, because the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will carry over the form factor of the excellent Galaxy Z Fold 7.
