HTC Desire 826 is the first Desire to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box
The entry-level Desire 320 isn’t the only new smartphone that HTC announced today. The company also unveiled the Desire 826, which has the honor of being the first in the series to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box (obviously customized with Sense UI).

Design-wise, the Desire 826 is not too different from the HTC Desire EYE (which was introduced several months ago), though it’s a bit larger and heavier, measuring 158 x 77.5 x 7.9 mm, and weighing 183 grams.

The new Desire sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, and is powered by a 64-bit, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor. It’s got LTE connectivity, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 4 MP UltraPixel camera on the front, while benefiting from the Desire EYE suite of camera features. 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2600 mAh battery are also on the specs sheet.

We’ve yet to find out when the Desire 826 will be released. We must mention that the handset is currently featured on HTC US’ official website, though this doesn’t necessarily mean it will be available Stateside. What’s certain is that the smartphone will be launched soon in China.

At least it's still a decent performer as a selfie camera.

4mp ultrapixel for the front camera is hella great, I think. It's not even half bad.

Well tbh it is same as its flagship phone M8. Also, it has a better camera and a better design in my view.

Edit: Nvm I just saw it has Sd615. I was reading Desire eye's spec sheet.

Is this a replacement for the Desire 820 or like a mid-release refresh?

This is a cheap & larger version of Desire EYE, or just basically a Desire 820 with FHD display.

I think i see it. It's actually identical to the Desire 820 (which is also FHD), but it uses the 4MP "ultrapixels" front camera instead of an 8MP front camer (Desire 820).

Also, it's natively running Lollipop instead of KitKat.

I would love to see this come to the US market

Those bezels though, I really thought they'd slim them down in their 2015 line-up

Another overpriced unit from HTC. Sell this for $200-$250 and this will be a sure hit.

$299-$349 seems perfectly reasonable. It's a FHD screen with a 13MP camera and a VERY competent SD615. I would easily pay $349 for this.

HTC has made a mess by selling overpriced junks in many regions except US/Taiwan. And look at their portfolio. Looks like they would sooner use all numbers from 1 to 1000 after using all the alphabets and their combinations.

HTC should rather rename this line as the HTC cyclops with this front camera position ;)

And then the huge bottom bezel graces the front, what a feat HTC.

Huge bezels! But, it has a great specs, this is a real midranger nowadays. 4mp ultrapixel is not bad at all for front camera.
