Android 5.1 for Moto X 1st and 2nd-gen should roll out next week across a number of markets
If you've been waiting for Android 5.1 Lollipop to arrive on your original Motorola Moto X or Moto X (2014), you mightn't be left sitting on your hands for much longer. As per a Google+ update by David Schuster, Senior Director of Software Product Management at Motorola, Android 5.1 soak testing is well under way for both handsets across a number of regions. Barring any major hiccups, full deployment should commence from next week, with users across dozens of markets set to reap the benefits.

Soak testing usually indicates that an end user release is just around the corner. According to Schuster's post, soak testing for the first-gen Moto X has begun in Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. The second-gen Moto X (2014), meanwhile, has entered soak testing for the retail channels of Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Singapore and Sweden.

In some regions, the Moto X line has already been updated to Android 5.1, but this mass wave of soak testing should bring many other nations up to scratch. Here's to hoping that everything runs as planned, and those in the aforementioned countries do finally get their long-awaited Android 5.1 Lollipop update.
