Two MVNOs, one under the radar, make announcements about the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max

Can you get a better deal, including your monthly service plan, by buying your new iPhone from one of these MVNOs?

You are probably familiar with Boost Mobile, especially after it was sold to Dish as part of the offering that T-Mobile presented to the FCC in order to get the Sprint acquisition approved. Dish Network acquired Boost and its 9 million subscribers and was going to become the nation's fourth facilities-based mobile carrier with its own standalone 5G network.

The plan by Dish to spend $10 billion to compete with T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T failed when EchoStar, which had acquired Dish, sold off its wireless spectrum to AT&T and SpaceX, leaving it to compete as a hybrid MVNO using its own cloud-native 5G core network, but relying on AT&T's cell towers and antennas.

Boost Mobile announces its deals for the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max

Boost Mobile has announced its deals for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Customers willing to port over their existing phone number can take up to $200 off the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max when they subscribe to Boost's Unlimited Premium $60/mo plan.

Existing Boost customers or those who would prefer not to port over their number can take up to $100 off the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, to get that discount, the customer will have to sign up with Boost's Unlimited Premium $60/mo plan.

This is the date when Boost Mobile will sell you the new 2026 Pro iPhone models

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can be purchased and ordered from Boost starting on Friday, September 18.

Boost also has a good deal on the iPhone 16e. If you prepay two months of the $60 Unlimited Premium Plan, you can purchase the less expensive 2024 iPhone model at a discounted price of $49.99. That is 92% off of the regular $599.99 price.

Another MVNO announcing iPhone deals today is Red Pocket Mobile. Red Pocket offers wireless service from the US Big 3 (Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile). Starting today, September 14, Red Pocket has opened its pre-order window for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Red Pocket Mobile offers service from Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T

Since Red Pocket uses cell service from the Big 3, the iPhone units it sells you are unlocked. The iPhone 18 Pro is priced at $1,199 for the model with 256GB of storage. You can pay as low as $55 a week for the phone through Katapult. The iPhone 18 Pro Max, also carrying 256GB of storage, is priced at $1,299 or as low as $60 per week via Katapult. The new handsets will be released this Friday, September 18.

Red Pocket will accept pre-orders for the iPhone Duo on Friday, October 16 with availability starting on October 23. The Apple Watch Series 12 timepieces will be available from Red Pocket later this year. The MVNO has three plans ranging from $10 to $30 per month. All three plans feature unlimited talk and text.

I want to discuss the $30-a-month plan for a second because it features unlimited talk, text and data. 50GB of that data is high-speed. Unless you consume a ridiculous amount of data each month, this should be enough to save you money while not asking you to change your online presence. Once you use more than 50GB of data during a month, your data speed is reduced to up to 150Mbps (remember when that was considered fast?).

This plan includes 10GB of 5G Premium Hotspot data, unlimited calling to over 80 countries, and roaming in over 60 countries.

You can still save money overall by buying your new iPhone from an MVNO

Buying a new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max from an MVNO won't get you the great deals available from one of the Big 3 carriers. On the other hand, you can bank the savings you'll receive by signing up for service from an MVNO.
