While we wonder if the Galaxy S27 Ultra will finally move away from the 5,000 mAh capacity battery that was used for seven straight years, other phones are going straight to the 10,000 mAh territory.
That's not the iPhone 18 Pro Max I'm referring to (we'll be getting a ~5,300–5,500 mAh device per current rumors), but an upcoming mid-ranger by Oppo.
Enter the Oppo A7 Pro Max

The A7 family by Oppo could be topped by the Oppo A7 Pro Max, which this article is all about.
As the name suggests, it's going to be a massive phone, although a bit smaller than the ~6.9-inch recent Galaxy and iPhone champions. The Oppo A7 Pro Max could arrive with a flat 6.78-inch OLED display. I, personally, prefer flat displays, but if you're into quad-curved exotics, this one might not be the one for you.
The current leaks speak of a 1.5K resolution, an advanced in-screen fingerprint sensor and the obligatory 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
What's the perfect battery capacity?
That battery though!
Of course, the most notable feature of the upcoming mid-ranger is its alleged 10,000 mAh battery cell. That's simply huge and you could easily get two days of moderate usage on a single charge.
Speaking of charging, the Oppo A7 Pro Max could support 80W charging speeds. This isn't as fast as the 100W speeds of recent Chinese flagships, but 80W is way better than what Galaxy and iPhone units – even the premium ones – currently offer.

Keep in mind that it'll take a while for the 80W charger to top up the huge 10,000 mAh cell. Don't expect to go from 0% to 100% in 30 minutes.
Thin and (relatively) light
The Oppo A7 Pro Max could be impressively thin, with a chassis under 8.5 mm. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro is a bit thicker at 8.75 mm. Apple's flagship is 209 grams, while the A7 Pro Max could weigh around 226 grams.
In terms of chipset, the phone should pack a mid-range option from Qualcomm's Snapdragon catalogue, but nothing's certain for the moment.
Finally, don't expect any sensational camera setups on this mid-ranger. Maybe we'll get a 50 MP main snapper and a decent selfie camera. If you don't take photos with your phone but only care about battery, definitely pay attention to the Oppo A7 Pro Max once it materializes.
The only thing I dislike about it is the moniker – Xiaomi and Oppo should back off and come up with something clever of their own. "Pro Max" will always be synonymous with Cupertino.
