T-Mobile is currently the only US carrier that supports iPhone Handoff. This new iOS 27 feature lets you use the same phone number across two devices. The carrier was spotted testing it in early September, ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro and Duo's launch.
We asked our readers for their thoughts on the feature, and most seem sold on it.

With iPhone Handoff, you don't have to worry about opening a second line. You can simply switch between two iPhones, and your calls, messages, and Find My location will automatically follow whichever device you are actively using.
When we polled our readers on how useful they found the feature, we got 536 responses. The majority — 303 participants, or 57% — thought it would come in handy. Around 60 (11%) said they might even switch to T-Mobile just to get it.
Meanwhile, 173 respondents (32%) pointed out that they could barely afford one device, let alone two.

Interest is bubbling
Most people probably don't like juggling multiple phones. However, workaholics looking to tune out work might want a second device free of office apps. Then there are developers and tech reviewers who constantly swap test units.
For these power users, being able to jump between two phones effortlessly is nothing short of a blessing.
It comes with a price
T-Mobile has since officially announced the feature, revealing a $5 monthly fee. Plenty of customers weren't happy to hear that. It's worth remembering that while Apple built the feature into iOS 27, carriers still have to shoulder the operational costs.

Besides, if you own two phones, a $5-a month fee is still a lot cheaper than paying for a new line.
What about T-Mobile DIGITS?

T-Mobile has long offered its DIGITS app, which lets you use the same number on multiple devices for free. That makes you wonder why DIGITS costs nothing while iPhone Handoff carries a fee. The difference likely comes down to integration. Handoff is an implementation of Apple's framework, while DIGITS is an in-house feature.
Either way, if you want to be seamlessly reachable on two iPhones, T-Mobile is your only option for now. Verizon is expected to add support later this year.
