Amazon knocks Samsung's ultra-affordable Galaxy A17 5G down to a new record low price for Prime Day
Samsung's most affordable new Galaxy A-series handset is cheaper than ever before in three different colorways this week.

But Samsung's cheapest new Galaxy A-series device actually got (slightly) cheaper surprisingly quickly and then even cheaper before unsurprisingly dropping to a lower-than-ever price today. Compared to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Z Fold 7, S26, and even the A37's latest discounts, the 50 bucks you can currently slash off the aforementioned list price of the A17 will undoubtedly seem pretty insignificant.
Then again, that's obviously not a fair comparison, and what you should wonder instead is whether you can get a better device at a similar price as the unlocked 5G-enabled Samsung Galaxy A17 right now. At a $100 Prime Day discount, for instance, Motorola's Moto G Power (2025) is still $50 costlier, while the similarly affordable Moto G (2025) is a completely lackluster 6.7-inch mid-ranger with a modest screen and terrible long-term software support.
Naturally, the A17's 6.7-inch display will not blow your mind either... if you're used to the silky smooth panels on higher-end members of the Galaxy A family. But at this new record low price, the 90Hz refresh rate-capable Super AMOLED beaut is an absolute screamer (as long as you ignore the painfully outdated notch), and when you add the six (!!!) guaranteed OS upgrades to the value equation, I don't think you'll be able to resist a purchase today.

The Galaxy A17 looks a little bland at first glance, but that shouldn't come as a big surprise considering the handset's ultra-low price point. | Image by PhoneArena
That is, of course, if you're an Amazon Prime member... and if you don't mind the inherent compromises of such a dirt-cheap Samsung handset with such an amazing software update promise. I'm talking an often laggy and generally unremarkable (even by the low standards of the sub-$200 segment) Exynos 1330 processor and a fairly respectable 50MP primary rear-facing camera accompanied by largely useless 5MP secondary ultra-wide-angle and 2MP tertiary macro sensors.
On the bright side, the 5,000mAh battery is certainly hefty enough to handle that AMOLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate technology and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels for hours and hours on end before requiring a recharge at a nice speed of up to 25W.
