At its Prime Day discount, Samsung's Galaxy A37 might be the best budget 5G phone around

The (way too) familiar-looking Galaxy A37 5G was formally unveiled alongside the slightly higher-end and prettier Galaxy A57 5G nearly three months ago, and as hard as I tried to also focus on the positives rather than just notice the obvious weaknesses of the budget-friendly 6.7-inch handset, I couldn't really hide my overall disappointment with the value delivered by Samsung's new mid-ranger.

But that was at an arguably excessive $449.99 list price, which Amazon quickly marked down by 75 bucks to make the value equation almost right. Unsurprisingly, the e-commerce giant's first good Galaxy A37 discount has been increased to $120 for this week's Prime Day sales event, and now I'm starting to wonder if you can find a better device at a comparable price (with or without an Amazon Prime membership).

If you're a cash-strapped Samsung fan with an Amazon Prime membership, you might find the Galaxy A37 5G mid-ranger impossible to resist at a hefty $120 discount in an entry-level 128GB storage variant and three color options.

The 256GB storage configuration of the 5G-enabled Galaxy A37 is obviously costlier but also available at an even heftier Prime-exclusive discount of $140 in the same three color options and with the same other specs as the 128GB model. Yes, that includes 6GB RAM.

Google's Pixel 10a is the first decent alternative that comes to mind, but the 6.3-incher is both costlier (even at its own hefty Prime Day discount) and a lot smaller than the A37 5G. Now, I'm obviously not saying bigger phones are automatically better, but clearly, these two devices don't have the same target audience.

If you want to get as much screen real estate as possible at under $350, you should probably also consider something like Motorola's 6.7-inch Moto G (2026). With only 4GB RAM and a display resolution of 1604 x 720 pixels, however, it's incredibly difficult to recommend that as a smarter buy than the Galaxy A37 5G, and that's before you even take Samsung's unrivaled long-term software support into account.

Yes, you will receive no less than six major OS upgrades if you decide to opt for the Galaxy A57's cheaper and slightly less visually attractive brother, as well as 6GB RAM in combination with your choice of 128 or 256 gigs of local digital hoarding room. That latter storage variant, mind you, is marked down by an even more impressive and harder-to-beat 140 bucks from a regular price of $539.99, and whichever model you'll end up choosing, you'll also get the choice between three "Awesome" colorways. Now this is how you recoup your relevance in the mid-range market segment, Samsung!
