Another beast of a camera phone is nigh: the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max has been teased officially by the company.
It's no wonder that its moniker includes the "Pro Max" title and that it's being leaked this week and not next week. This was done purposefully, since this week is Apple's big week.
Big iPhone things in a matter of hours
But Oppo will be making even bigger camera announcements! | Image by Oppo
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is knocking at the door and on September 9, which is only hours away, we'll let it in. It will be accompanied by the smaller-sized iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Ultra. The baseline iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 are postponed to early (but not too early) 2027, so we'll be dealing with the high-end Apple handsets right now.
Since Apple's first-ever foldable iPhone, a.k.a. the iPhone Ultra will likely arrive with two, not three cameras on its back, it's safe to say it won't be a camera beast.
For the best cameras, one has to look at the Pro duo. Or, if you're bold enough, that means looking at Oppo's upcoming Pro Max phone.
Zhuo Shijie, the product manager for the Oppo Find series, has something to say and it will make mobile photographers jump for joy.
For starters, the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max (expected later in September in China) packs the world's first triple 200 MP camera setup. As usual, the setup was jointly developed with photography legend Hasselblad.

Which cameras get a 200 MP sensor?
A total of three rear cameras on the Find X10 Pro Max get a 200 MP sensor:
Main camera
Ultra-wide camera
Telephoto camera
The phone's main camera will premiere the Samsung HPC sensor and the DeepPix dynamic technology plus a mind-boggling dynamic range of up to 17EV. What's more, the main camera has a large f/1.5 aperture and offers serious optical stabilization. This is great for those with shaky hands and for shooting in the dark.
The 200 MP ultra-wide camera gets a wider f/2.2 aperture, allowing it to capture 102% more light than the previous model. Oppo has also increased the field of view to 124 degrees, so the camera can fit more into a single shot. That should be useful for landscapes, group photos and video.
The third camera supports 10cm macro photography, so it can be used for both distant subjects and very close-up details. The CIPA 7.5 stabilization rating means it should also help keep zoomed-in photos and videos steady, particularly in low light.
8K video and a stunning display
The Oppo Find X10 Pro Max phone is presented as being able to record 8K video at all three focal lengths. It seems that Oppo is emphasizing on the phone's video capabilities because it offers 8K Log recording across the entire zoom range, rather than limiting the feature to one camera.
You can check out the phone's insane video HDR right here.
Finally, the Find X10 Pro Max gets updated display materials, pixel-level calibration and support for the wider BT.2020 color gamut. The idea is to make the images shown on the screen more closely match what the cameras actually captured. That's good but I'd personally do the serious photo and video edits on my desktop, not on my phone regardless of how advanced its display is. It's just a matter of display size, not display quality.
