OPPO’s new Reno16 Series positions itself as the go-to pick for young creators. With a main focus on mobile creativity, the Reno16 Pro, Reno16, and Reno16 F come with new AI tools to edit, remix, and combine images and videos, an industry-first 3D Pop Planet Design on its back, and versatile triple-camera systems across the lineup.

The Reno16 Series is crafted to be the best mid-range phones of choice for young creators or adventurers. And it seeks to deliver flagship features for mid-range prices.

What is special about the Reno16 design?

With each generation of Reno series, OPPO likes to do something new and bold. While the Reno15 had the Aurora Vitality glowing design, the new Reno16 Series phones in Pop White have an ethereal, floating nebula-inspired graphic on the back. It’s called the 3D Pop Planet.

Achieved with the innovative HoloVerse 3D Technology, which houses millions of micro-lenses underneath the transparent glass, the entire graphic almost looks like it's floating slightly outside the phone. As light hits it from different angles, the micro-lenses inside distort and reflect it differently, making for a surreal floating effect.

Typically, we don’t see mid-range phones deliver something special, so that sets the OPPO Reno16 Series apart from the competition. The frame is also built with aerospace-grade aluminium to finish that prestigious look with a proper feel.

OPPO Bubble - the perfect buddy to pair it with

The new OPPO Bubble is an excellent accessory built to work in tandem with the Reno16 Series. It’s a circular puck with a display on it, which attaches to the phone magnetically when used with a compatible magnetic phone case or magnetic sticker.

You can use it as a viewfinder while taking a selfie with the 200 MP main camera of the Reno16 Pro. Even cooler, you can use it like a remote shutter for your paired Reno16 phone, at up to 10 meters away!

When idle, it can stay on the phone and display fun, personalized graphics. Or you can simply clip it to a bag, pocket, belt loop, or anywhere else on your clothing as a fun charm.

What new camera features does OPPO Reno16 have?

The entire philosophy behind the OPPO Reno16 Series is to make capturing and editing content not just easy, but fun and inspiring. Even the selfie camera has been constructed as a “usable” vlogger tool — a 50 MP sensor under a 100-degree ultra-wide angle will help you get more in the shot easier.

But it doesn’t just end at a high-res selfie camera, of course. If the Reno16 Series wants to be the best mid-range phone for creators, its entire creator suite has to be useful.

That’s why there’s a new 4K Auto Straighten system that will keep footage stable even as you are walking down the street, vlogging an active adventure as it happens. Or Dual View Video 2.0, which records with both the back camera and the front camera to capture your expression. What’s new here is that you are free to switch between the rear camera lenses during recording, thanks to more powerful hardware.

All three OPPO Reno16 models feature a triple camera system, including a main, ultra-wide, and 3.5x telephoto camera. The Reno16 Pro, however, gets a serious upgrade where it matters most: a 200MP “Ultra-Clear Main Camera” that gives you plenty of resolution to work with.

The Reno16 Pro’s 200MP main camera gives you more breathing room when you need to quickly capture a scene, without knowing what you want to focus on. Maybe it’s a fleeting moment, maybe it’s an interior arrangement that just works, but you can’t figure out why yet.

With the high-res photos from the OPPO Reno16 Pro, you can take the picture now, decide if you want to crop-in later, and still enjoy crisp detail.

The 3.5x telephoto lens is built for portraits as this zoom level is the most “natural” and “honest”. It is both good at isolating the subject but also it doesn’t distort their features, giving you lovely portraits instead of “banana head” or “big nose” effects.

And when you need to go in the opposite direction, there’s a 50MP ultra-wide to fit more into the frame. Perfect for landscapes, huge buildings, or group shots where there’s simply nowhere left to step back. It’s also handy for action shots, where a wider field of view gives you a better chance of keeping the subject in the frame instead of watching them run right out of it.

Styles at a tap

The new Pop Cam feature allows you to experiment with different styles easily. What sets it apart from “filters” that you often find on other mid-range phones is that the OPPO Reno16 Series adapts the ambient lighting of the actual photo within its scene-aware rendering.

That’s why, popular effects like Digicam, Instant Film, and Light Leak might look like the actual analog distortions, instead of simulations of such.

But if you want to dive deeper, there’s the Creative Hub in the Photos app. Here, you can engage powerful AI editors like the AI Remix Collage.

It goes beyond a simple static collage tool — AI Remix Collage lets you combine pictures with Motion Photos, and even videos into a single dynamic canvas. You can also turn subjects into customizable stickers that can be layered and remixed on top.

The result is this new style of collage that will have everyone asking “How did you do that?!”.

Popout Collage takes things a step further by adding a fun frame-breaking effect with just a tap. It can automatically separate people, pets, buildings, and other subjects from the background, making the entire process quick and easy.

Alongside other built-in tools like AI Portrait Glow and AI Eraser, the Reno16 Series offers a solid set of editing features right on the phone, making it easier to polish your shots before sharing them.

What AI features come with OPPO Reno16?

Aside from the AI editing tools outlined above, the OPPO Reno16 Series also comes with a new Snap Key to send you straight into new AI experiences built for easier access and improved workflows.

Think of the AI Mind Space as a new place to collect all your notes, details, and content. On the Reno16 Series, you can access it directly via the Snap Key, which is previously exclusive to OPPO’s flagship Find Series. It provides a convenient way to capture and save on-screen content, voice notes and other information to the Mind Space, where they can be sorted, tagged, and organized for easier access later.

Then, there’s the AI Mind Pilot. Ever wondered which specific AI will be more useful to you for a given task? Well, Mind Pilot lets you tap into Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity with one query, so you can compare answers and choose the response that works best for you.

And for frequent travelers, AI Menu Translation will be a godsend. It doesn’t simply translate the text in the menu, it actively generates visuals to give you a better idea of what exactly you are ordering.

That’s more than the usual set of AI features we see on a mid-range phone, and the Reno16 is positioned to be a helpful tool in your day-to-day, your creativity, and even your travels.

What is the battery size of OPPO Reno16 Series?

The OPPO Reno16 and Reno16 Pro come with massive batteries of up to 6,700 mAh, which can confidently give you all-day endurance, even if you consider yourself a “poweruser”. And the OPPO Reno16 F pushes it a bit further, with a huge cell of up to 7,000 mAh.

Having a big battery is cool, yes. But creators or active users who are looking for the best mid-range phone deal out there also care about charging speed. Because sometimes you simply forget to charge. Or you go overboard with your gaming and you drain the phone.

Well, all three OPPO Reno16 phones support the 80 W SuperVOOC technology for super-fast charging. Instead of waiting around for hours, you can give the phone a quick top-up while you grab a coffee, get ready to leave, or take a short break from gaming. A full charge takes approximately 57 minutes, so even if you forgot to plug in the night before, you won’t have to spend your morning tethered to a charger.
