Call for Me is a great AI feature for the Pixel 11 series. It's one of those QOL improvements that make Google and its Pixel line arguably the AI smartphone leader. Previous Pixel AI telephone features like Hold for Me and Direct My Call are both still extremely useful.
What are Hold for Me and Direct My Call?
With Hold for Me, when you are on a phone call and are placed on hold, Gemini monitors the line, leaving you free to thumb through the book you've been reading, get up to stretch, or run to the kitchen to make a snack. When the other party returns to the call, you receive an audio alert telling you that the conversation is resuming.
Direct My Call allows you to avoid listening to menu options and lets you tap on the screen to navigate your call
Direct My Call turns automated phone menus into clickable buttons on your screen. This way, instead of having to sit and listen to all of the menu options before choosing the one you want, you can look at the screen, find the menu choice you want, and tap it to be sent there.

In many cases, the phone shows all of the menu options before the automated system finishes speaking. Direct My Call takes those long, sleep-inducing phone trees and turns them into interactive on-screen options.
Call for me debuted on the Pixel 11 series
Returning to Call for Me, this new feature, available on the new Pixel 11 series as a preview, uses Gemini AI to place routine phone calls to businesses on your behalf. The feature can call to update your order or ask questions.
If you find calling businesses to be daunting, Call for Me is a great feature. According to Android Authority, it is about to get better. Right now, Call for Me is great when you need to call a business, as it will sit patiently through hold music, help you make reservations, check business hours, and get information using an AI-generated voice.
The future of Call for Me was discovered in the latest Phone by Google update
Android Authority was able to see the future of Call for Me by digging deeply into some recent updates for the Phone by Google app. The crystal ball appears to show that Call for Me will spread its wings and start calling friends and family members from your Contacts app to deliver messages and more.
