Google on Thursday released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7, and this is the beta program for Android 17's first Pixel Drop due out in September. As the seventh beta release, we are at the stage where what you see is what you get. The release is build number CP31.260623.005 and comes with Security patch level 2026-07-05 and Google Play services 26.20.31.

Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 models subscribed to the Android 17 Beta Program received the update

This update is available for the Pixel 6 series to the Pixel 10 line. It did show up on my Pixel 6 Pro, which has about three months of support remaining. If you are a member of the Android Beta Program, you can install the update by going to Settings > System > Software updates > System update. If you receive an update notification, follow the directions.

These are the bugs getting exterminated by the update

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7 exterminates several bugs including one that prevented the reverse wireless charging feature Battery Share from charging another phone when activated from the Quick Settings feature. Sometimes Battery Share would do nothing. Other times it would incorrectly show the wireless charging animation over and over.

First, let's remind you what reverse wireless charging is all about. It allows you to charge another person's phone or wireless earbuds' charging case by placing your phone screen down on a flat surface as the back of your Pixel turns into a wireless charging pad. The device you're sharing your battery with is placed on the back of the Pixel and starts charging. The reverse wireless charging is enabled via a button in Quick Settings.

This particular issue is fixed by Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7, and it has been the subject of seven Issue Tracker submissions to Google. One such Issue Tracker said that the Pixel user tried to share his battery with a Samsung phone. But the feature "glitched" according to the filing and would not charge because the Pixel incorrectly showed that it was being charged wirelessly.

The next Pixel Feature Drop is getting closer

Another bug fixed by the update is one that created an empty gap between the battery icon and the mobile data icon in Quick Settings when Wi-Fi is turned off. The final bug fix also revolves around Quick Settings. The font size controller in Quick Settings crashed. This prevented users from adjusting the size of their text using the quick access panel.

We could see another beta release or two before the September Pixel Feature Drop is launched.
