The Saygus V2 is positioned to make a splash in the wireless market, not just in the United States, but around the world. The Utah based company has designed a no-holds-barred smartphone that is a far cry from first effort years ago, the Vphone.
Saygus intends to make the V2 available with all the major American carriers, and it has committed to work with carriers around the world to ensure their network frequencies are supported.
Before all that however, the company set up a pre-registration portal for people that wanted to be the first to get a Saygus V2. The registration window closed at noon on February 2nd, and now at 11:59PM Mountain time, the pre-order window for the Saygus V2 is now open.
Early adopters who pre-registered can pre-order up to 10 unlocked V2 smartphones for $549. During the pre-order period, which will apparently last only 72 hours through Thursday, February 5th, customers will also get an extra battery, and a customer designed glass screen protector for each device. The non-discounted price for pre-orders is $599.
The Saygus V2 is positioned as a no compromises smartphone, it will feature a 20-megapixel main camera, and a 13-megapixel front camera, each with optical image stabilization. There are two front-facing speakers with Harman Kardon audio.
Storage capacity is not a problem for the V2, as it will have 64GB augmented by 3GB of RAM. The storage is expandable with two microSD slots, each capable of supporting cards up to 128GB. The 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU will have no problems running stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat with upgrade plans to 5.0 Lollipop in the works.
For those that like to tinker, the V2 comes with an unlocked bootloader, and the device supports multi-boot (from the SD card). There is a 60GHz transmitter for wireless gaming and mobile beaming, and a fingerprint scanner.
Those that pre-order will receive an unlocked device that will work on any GSM carrier worldwide. The Saygus V2 is going through carrier testing with Sprint and Verizon, and the company is confident for availability in the second-quarter.
