Recently, some claims have been circulating across the internet about the Galaxy S27 Ultra getting a makeover. These rumors allege that Samsung is considering equipping its next flagship smartphone with a horizontal camera island, similar to the Google Pixel phones, the old Galaxy S10, and the iPhone Air, among others.

But how much truth is there actually to these rumors? A new report from a credible source sheds light on the matter.

Camera layout rumors are all wrong

According to a reliable tipster's new report (translated source), all of the circulating rumors on social media are incorrect. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is not getting a horizontal camera island, though certain revisions are being considered by Samsung as of now.

What will the Galaxy S27 Ultra look like?

According to the report, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will very likely look the same as the current Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung is apparently considering minor tweaks just to cut down on manufacturing costs as component shortages and memory price hikes continue to ravage the tech industry.

However, cost-cutting measures have now opened up the possibility of a Galaxy S27 Ultra that loses a camera lens that the company believes users can do without. The worst-case scenario, as painted by the post, is an S27 Ultra that looks the same as its predecessor but features one less camera lens.

Will the S27 Ultra be worth it next year?

Ultimately, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is still going to be one of the best smartphones of 2027. Even if Samsung continues to use the same 5,000 mAh battery and there are only minor performance improvements, the phone will still deliver an unbeatably reliable experience.

However, the case for buying a Galaxy S26 Ultra on sale or after a price drop will be a much stronger one when the Galaxy S27 series comes out.

Not that fast, internet!

Honestly, I didn’t put much stock into the horizontal layout rumors from the start, It would be very unexpected for Samsung to simply abandon its iconic layout for something that doesn’t even look that good, in my opinion.

I’m also doubtful of the claim that we might lose a camera in the process. Samsung would be much wiser to cut costs elsewhere or to introduce a price hike than to compromise on its flagship experience.
