Samsung GALAXY Ace 2 and Samsung GALAXY mini 2 confirmed, will replace existing models
Samsung has officially announced a pair of successors to two current models. The Samsung GALAXY Ace 2 and the Samsung GALAXY mini 2 will feature upgraded processors, cameras and displays from the current respective models. Both smartphones will have TouchWiz 4.0 running on top of Android 2.3.

UPDATE: Samsung Netherlands revealed the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 price - the handset will sell for around $460 (350 euro) off contrat. The Galaxy mini 2 price stands at around $265 (200 euro).

The Samsung GALAXY Ace 2 is the new king among Samsung's mid-range Androids. The screen has increased in size from 3.5-inch on the original Ace to 3.8 inches and resolution is improved from 320 x 480 to 480 x 800 pixels. The original GALAXY Ace had a rather low pixel density of 165ppi which certainly will be higher on the new model. The biggest upgrade in the Ace 2 is the bump up to a dual-core 800MHz processor, an impressive feature for a mid-range device. The handset also comes with a 5MP camera with LED flash capable of capturing 720p HD videos.

A VGA front-facing camera is added and data speed has doubled to 14.4Mbps over HSPA. 4GB of native storage is on board, and a 1500mAh battery will try to get you through the day. The Samsung GALAXY Ace 2 will be available in the UK starting in April.

The Samsung GALAXY mini 2 offers a 3.27 inch screen, a slight increase from the 3.14 inch display on the original model, with resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The original model had resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The single-core 800MHz processor is an upgrade from the 600MHz processor on the first generation phone. 512MB of RAM is aboard along with a 3MP camera. 4GB of native storage is on the phone. This model will be available starting next month in France.
