Xiaomi to update the cameras on the Mi Mix 2S and Mi 8 with features from the Mi Mix 3
A post made by Xiaomi co-founder Lei Jun on Weibo (via GSM Arena) last week indicates that Xiaomi plans on pushing out updates to the Mi Mix 2S and the Mi 8 that will include the features found on the Mi Mix 3's camera. This is possible because all three models use the same camera modules. Jun noted that the trio of handsets employ a 12MP Sony IMX 363 CMOS sensor, and a secondary Samsung S5K3M3 sensor for images requiring the use of a telephoto lens. All handsets in the Mi 8 range that use this setup will receive the update.

While Lei Jun didn't say when the update will be pushed out, he did praise Xiaomi's research and development team for developing the software, which includes more optimized processing. In addition, the software coming from the Mi Mix 3 to the other models allows users to take better photos under low-light conditions.

As we mentioned above, there is no time frame on when the update will be sent out. However, Mr. Jun did say that Xiaomi is working on it right now and wants it disseminated to compatible devices ASAP. The Mi Mix 3 was unveiled last week and includes a sliding design allowing it to offer a screen-to-body-ratio of 93%.
