New Sony Xperia phones allegedly photographed before MWC 2017 debut

New Sony Xperia phones allegedly photographed before MWC 2017 debut
A few weeks back, Sony announced its presence at MWC 2017, inviting us to discover its "latest innovations" on February 27.

While the company doesn't say exactly what it's planning to announce at MWC, rumors have it that we're going to see multiple Xperia smartphones at the event, from low-end to high-end models.

Some of Sony's upcoming handsets might be shown in the leaked images below. Originating from China, the photos seemingly show at least three different Xperia models, including one with 4 GB of RAM and a prominent front facing camera (with its own LED flash).

If previous rumors are to be believed, Sony intends to launch two 5.5-inch Xperia phones this year: one with a 4K (2160 x 3840 pixels) screen to succeed the Xperia Z5 Premium, and another one with a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen. These two handsets might be the models seen in the foreground in the first photo below.

We have to note that these newly leaked images come with no extra details, so we could only speculate about them. Moreover, while the photos appear to show real, unannounced Xperia phones, we can't vouch for their authenticity. In any case, we do hope that Sony has exciting smartphones to reveal at MWC this month.

Thanks for the tip, Ketty!

Same with the sharp corners. People want a razor thin phone, but not a razor sharp one.

So you want it to look like iPhones and pixel phone. Those ugly curves. Those sharp edges resemblance are of Huawei P9 and OnePlus3.

To me it does not look ugly. It is a matter of taste. Some may like rounded phones, some may like sharp corners.

I knew it! I knew that this would be the first comment!! The bezel obsession of people in this site gets manic-obsessive... Just go and buy your anorexic Galaxies S8 and LG G6 and tell us where you place your fingers when you just want to hold them without accidentally opening apps, dragging down the notification shade or opening the recent apps menu... Bezels is really one of my least concerns when I buy a smartphone... If I have 150mm space in my pocket, I'm sure I can manage 5-6mm more or less...

Cant' disagree with you that the bezel obsession has jumped the shark. Still, the Xperia line doesn't have to have their bezels mimic that of the average American body, lol.

the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 renders still have enough bezels on top and the bottom parts of the display, so it's less likely to accidentally touch menus on such parts. and if you're comcerned with the side bezels, if you have used any Galaxy Note 7, you'll tell otherwise :) The huge bezels on these Sony phones are just plain ugly let alond the design being used by them for "decades" and across all their phone lineup.

Don't worry, once S8 out they'll buy them.

the sides on the curved glass have greatly reduced or no touch ability to ward off accidental touching. I'm fine with a little side bezel, curved glass is just design. However, it's those top and bottom chins that need major trimming. I don't want Jay Leno in my pocket. That's always steered me away from some models. cough cough Pixel cough.

And the stupid iPhone 8 will likely copy Samsung and LG to join the bezel-less era as well.

Why do Sony offer to much Bezels at the Top & Bottom seems totally odd,as offering more screen usage to consumers might make there phones a lot more popular, but so much is taken away from the screen from Sony Why?

Because Sony (as Apple and Google) love being bashed by people like you who think they are born smartphone engineers...

Remember that leaked "the new X" flyer we saw that had really small bezels and looked super thin. Seriously man that thing better be real because I've already given it my heart.

Sony, please get with the times. With every major oem soon to go minimized bezel design, normal size bezel from yester year will start to look massive and thus ancient in comparison. Elongate the screen aspect ratio, cut top/lower bezel by at least half. U already have a great overall phone design w front dual speakers. Focus on those, otherwise be seriously be left behind.

I own a Sony Xperia XZ. But for the next model I would hope they reduce the bezels. They not need to totaly remove them just make them some mm thinner. Would make the phones looks more modern and appeal to people taste for a smartphone that not look like a device from 2012. But we will see in MWC 2017 if my next phone will be a Sony again or if I will go for some other option like Nokia.
