HTC says it has a unique tablet heading to the U.K.
So just what is this unique tablet that HTC says it is sending over to the U.K.? A spokesperson for the Taiwan based manufacturer didn't make it clear what makes the tablet unique, or whether it is actually a new device that no one has seen before. While the U.K. has received the HTC Flyer, they have yet to receive the HTC Jetstream, although one would wonder if that would be considered a unique tablet. HTC told PC Advisor that a new tablet is "definitely" coming to the country. It is expected that the device would run the latest Android 4.1.1 build.
The HTC Flyer launched in the U.K. with some features that were unique to the 7 inch tablet at the time, including a higher resolution and the Scribe Technology. The tablet originally was priced at 600 GBP ($930 USD) but can now be had in the country for just 200 GBP ($310 USD). The HTC Jetstream is a tablet with a larger 10.1 inch screen.
A clue about the tablet could be found by looking at the timing of this announcement, which comes a week or so after Google announced the ASUS built Google Nexus 7, a tablet intended to compete in the low end of the market along with the Amazon Kindle Fire. The new Android 4.1.1 tablet is expected to launch July 19th. We don't know about you, but we're excitedly waiting for more info on this mysterious device, such as specs, launch date and pricing.
