Gamelion Studios, maker of cutesy casual titles Crazy Hamster and Doodle Fit, has decided to bring something less harmless to its portfolio. Today, the studio released Allies in War on iOS, with an Android version to be announced sometime in the future. The game is a free-to-play, massive online multiplayer real-time strategy which looks heavily inspired by the Command & Conquer series. It offers all the staples of a military RTS - building bases, assembling armies, and crushing enemies, along with a singleplayer campaign, and online multiplayer features – namely, forging Alliances with other players and fighting large battles in cooperation.

It doesn't sound like anything special, but the five key words which Gamelion uses to describe Allies in War are "fun, simple to use, addictive, social, and combat". This, paired with the quality cartoon-style visuals that almost made us reinstall Red Alert II, makes the game look rather promising.

Also, it appears that Gamelion has already delivered an update to Allies in War, version 1.0.2. It adds Game Center friends support, performance and gameplay improvements, additional sounds, and more. The game requires iOS 5.0 or later and is optimized for the iPhone 5, although any strategy game more elaborate than Plants vs. Zombies simply calls for a tablet.
