Android 7.0 Nougat beta update for the S7 and S7 edge breaks Gear VR compatibility
Samsung outed the Android 7.0 Nougat beta for its spring flagships like the S7 or S7 edge already, and the TouchWiz of yesterday is apparently undergoing a big overhaul. The brand new SamsungOne font makes the fresh UX look very different and more minimalistic, the clean and simplified settings list brings back fond memories of the Note 7's Grace UX, and the extra Always-On screen options from the deceased phablet are also brought in to sooth the mourning a little bit.

The update has been remarkably stable, save for an issue with the Facebook app, which Samsung fixed with a second small update, but now another drawback of installing the pre-release beta has emerged. It seems that you can no longer connect your Galaxy S7 and S7 edge with the Gear VR contraption.

Now, whether this is due to the Oculus Store app not having Nougat support yet, or to the fact that there might be a lot of code from the Note 7 in the beta, and Occulus already cut the connection to its app for the phablet, remains to be seen, but that's just something to keep in mind if you are planning to apply for the Nougat beta on your S7 or S7 edge.
